If you want to feel the charm of old Banana Republic days of San Pedro Sula, Casa del Arbol Centro is the perfect spot. A charming home, with spacious, clean rooms. Free wifi and a great breakfast. Staff is friendly and decoration is reminiscent of the banana fields, with lovely original paintings by Honduran artists. Location is ideal if you want to visit the downtown attractions in San Pedro Sula, such as the Guamilito market, the Museum of Anthropology or Central Park. The staff will help you secure a cab to take you anywhere you need to go. I will definitely be back!
This was our second time staying here and we enjoyed it both times. The rooms are large. The beds where very comfortable. Bathrooms cakes lots of hot water. The front desk arranged to have a taxi take us to Pats Steak house and pick us up after which was very helpful for us. There breakfast starts at 7 but when they found out we were leaving at 6 they started at 630 for us. Thanks a lot.
Suggested by a staff member of the bus company Hedman Alas, I chose this hotel for its location and good price. The staff have been patient, helpful and nice, assisting me with some traveling difficulties. The room is conveniently located, nicely appointed, immaculate, and the bed was very comfortable. The Guamilito Market is only a couple blocks away for a huge selection of souvenirs, flowers, arts, and crafts.
I only spent one night here before heading home, but the experience was very good. It is a very secure hotel in the center of town, only blocks away from the main square. The air conditioning in the first room was not operating, so they quickly gave us another room. It was clean and the beds were wonderful. They provide a very nice breakfast buffet.
Casa del Arbol Centro (Guamilito) is the sister hotel of Casa del Arbol (Galerias). Just as Casa del Arbol Galerias is highly recommended, the sister hotel in Guamilito will probably be as well. I had been in Honduras for a little over two weeks, in the mountainous western part in Gracias, Lempira and down on the coast in Tela. After working (and seeing) Honduras, Casa del Arbol Centro in Guamilito just put me in a totally relaxed mood a day before my flight back. My colleague booked me at this hotel because of proximity to her office. She also knew that it wouldn't disappoint. It didn't. The hotel sent a taxi for me at the Hedman Alas bus station (an impressive little operation), and brought me to the hotel. The facade isn't imposing, resembling any other house on the block converted to a business. However, as soon as I stepped in, I was well overwhelmed by the spacious open concept lobby with adjoining breakfast area, the minimal but appropriate, classy decor, the hush hush atmosphere. It was also spotless. To get to my room, I had to go through a small courtyard up the second floor, that reminded me of an old mansion. My room was the biggest room in all of my 2.5 weeks in Honduras, king size bed, and the largest bathroom (and tub), equal to American standard, with a window. I also had a little balcony that was basically private. The room decor was minimalist, plain white and dark brown wood, white bed sheets with brown duvet cover. No picture frames or dust catcher on the wall. It was ultra clean and one could actually sleep on the cold tiles. They also brought me a thermos of cold drinking water on arrival. The only thing that this hotel lacks is food to eat outside of breakfast, not even vending machines. There are no decent restaurants, only a pizza place, 2 blocks, away with a guard that opens and locks the door for patrons. There is a take out delivery brochure with various restaurants (a number of American franchises) at the front desk. Breakfast was so so, nothing special but the coffee was good. When I needed a place to chill out, collect myself and my thoughts, reorganize my luggage, this hotel was just the perfect place: tranquil, a little oasis in central SPS (about 5-8 big blocks from the parque/cathedral) in not exactly impressive downtown. The price was right too: USD82.00.…
