A very nice "family-run establishment" (with warm welcomes from all members of the family) right in the Copan village, getting at this place for the quite reasonable price of about 25 US$ a night was my own "small-but-not-tiny" room (with actually a good-sized bed which takes up a good part of the room, a small TV mounted on a wall & also an ensuite bathroom of a size to move around easily). And yes, just as satisfactory as the accommodation was the "filling breakfast" on the 2nd floor (with also a not-too-distant view of some "serene mountains" around the Village to see from the tables alongside the railing facing the street in front of this place); and also as for the meals apart from the breakfast, one which I can definitely suggest is a pretty good Chinese restaurant (to the left after coming out of this place then to the right just at the first street where the restaurant is on the right side after a short downhill way) although there are also a number of other places to eat around this place apart from that one. As for the well-known Copan "ruin site", it's just about a 20-minute walk away, first to the "east gate" of the Village (where on the wall just inside the gate a "long mural scene" which I would say a pretty great collection of some "defining images" of this area including that of a jaguar!) for about a 10-minute walk followed by another 10 minutes straight along the road leading out of that gate to the gate of the "ruin site" (a "big gate" unmissable on the right side of the road with also a row of souvenir vendors on the left side). And yes, a "quaint place" in itself with cobble-stoned streets lined with small multi-colored buildings of 1 or 2 stories (kind of a "mini-Cartagena" as I would put it, and more similar both in appearance & size to those like Granada in Nicaragua and Antigua & Flores in Guatemala), pretty much everywhere in the Village is just within a 10-minute walk from this place including the "main plaza" (at just a short walk to the left just along the street in front).…
First off: Enelda, Ivan and their 3 sons are great. Breakfasts are good with a choice of typical and continental which is eggs, fruit and toast. Free wifi, a/c, clean, secure and 2-3 minute walk to the park. Ok, for the price this is a great hotel in the under 30 dollar a night range. If you are seeking a 4 star hotel you will not be satisfied. Rooms are smaller and quaint. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Will help you with shuttles and going to local attractions like the Luna Jaguar Spa, etc. Was here April 14-17 with spouse.
I have just spent two great weeks staying at hotel Cuna Maya in Copán Ruinas. The rooms are nicely decorated and air conditioned and the hotel is central, just 2 blocks from the Central Park. Enelda, Ivan and their 3 teenage sons treat you like family and can never do enough for you. Enelda speaks good English if you wish to. A delicious breakfast with great coffee is included. The hotel is totally secure and Copán is totally safe to walk around, both day and night. Be sure to bring earplugs to Copán if you want to avoid the early morning wakeup call by local roosters. The hotel is kept spotless, with good plumbing and hot showers. Highly recommended
Wonderful hotel with friendly helpful owners. Easy walking distance from the main square and the ruins as well. A good breakfast too - either típica or continental. I really enjoyed staying here and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. The owner and her family were amazing hosts. Excellent value for money!
This is a nice family run hotel, and i'm sure the rooms in the main hotel are lovely, but my friend and I were put in the annex - a separate building 2 minutes up the road. It was terrible. The room wasn't nice at all, walls are paper thin, so the noise of bikes and tuk tuks keep you up and the room was bare! We actually had to ask for a table, so we had somewhere to put our things on. Also, the shower was inside the room and not in the bathroom! It was so weird! So, the toilet and sink were in a bathroom, but the shower unit was in the actually room, and it was made worse because the shower doors were transparent, so there was zero privacy while showering. The family is nice and the breakfast was good, hence why the 3-stars. My advice is, if you're booking here, just make sure you're NOT in the annex!…
