Booked this place after seeing a good score on Hostel world but was disappointed. Didn't get a great welcome from staff, wifi basically doesn't work on the top floor, private room was really stuffy and next to the roof chillout area where people were chatting and smoking at various times which is right next to the only room window. Bathrooms are basic with toilet paper availability a lottery. Must be better options out there.
Our stay in don Moises was great. We felt so welcoming by the family and stayed longer than we expected. If you need anything they will help you immediately and are really interested in what you have to tell too. The rooms are clean and nice. The rooftop with hammocks and tables was awesome as well. We hung out a lot there. I would definitely go back!!! Thanks for everything!!!
I was really disappointed, especially after reading all the positive reviews. The staff were very friendly, no complaints with them. Our room was quite dank. You get what you pay for I guess, and it felt in disrepair. The shower had barely any pressure and ultimately the water stopped entirely until the following morning. It was only ever cold. The air con works but is incredibly loud. We moved after one night.
We had one night here and it was OK, although we found another hotel for our other two nights. It's cheap, so expectations should reflect that but we were struggling with the water pressure when we arrived in the evening. By the morning nothing came out of the taps and when we asked, they flicked some switch outside the room and the water was flowing again. It is not a major drama - but something that probably should have not been missed by the staff in the first place. We now had water but it was only cold and they advertised hot water so we found somewhere nearby for a similar price that had hot water flowing.
Amada was the owner of this hotel and made us feel completely at home! The rooms and bathrooms are very basic, but it was fine for us. Amada went above and beyond to help us map our local bus trip to La Ceiba, and had her daughter help with the Spanish-English translation. She even fed my boyfriend and I as we were rushed for time to see Copan Ruinas - this is something I would never expect at a hotel. She served us a great stew she had made for her children and insisted we eat before we go & even gave us dessert! It made all the difference! So nice to meet you Amada!
