This resort deserves better reviews as it is fixed up now. My girlfriend and I had an excellent time during our week of diving here. It was professionally and diver casual. OWNER/STAFF: Shirley, the owner, was very friendly. She was always available to chat and help if we needed something PRICE: I actually do not know the price. We bid...

Location is wonderful but facilities are in need of repair, updating and cleaning. Food was terrible and they were not interested in accommodating dietary needs - even though they ask before our arrival. Dive masters are world class - dive sites are mediocre. Unfortunately we didn't see any whale sharks - the website is misleading regarding research week - no...

We chose to stay at Deep Blue Resort on April 4-11, 2015. We chose that time because it is peak season for whale shark sightings. The cost of the trip was ~3700 for two people. We did not see whale sharks but that's just nature!!!! We have been diving in various places for approximately 20 years. The diving in Utila...

We paid extra to be part of a whale shark research week. The hotel said they have a spotter boat looking for whale sharks while you dive then call you over to them. They have no spotter boat. They rely solely upon fishermen hopefully reporting sightings. We only went out twice out of 8 days looking ourselves, and only on...

We were very concerned before we arrived after reading the most recent comments about Deep Blue. I contacted the travel agent we worked with and she was in touch with Steven the owner. We were met at the airport and then shuttled by boat to the resort. Shirley met us and was very pleasant. We enjoyed her and she made...

In February of 2015 we visited the Deep Blue Resort in Utila for the third time in 8 years. Our first two visits were incredibly wonderful. The diving and resort were fabulous. Unfortunately the most recent visit was quite disappointing. We appreciated Shirley (79 year old Deep Blue co-owner with her son, Steve) and her staff and know they are...

We are experienced divers familiar with nearby Roatan and other Caribbean diving destinations. We have never in 15 years had such a thoroughly aggravating negative experience that is is necessary to warn other divers against reading the positive reviews as reality. Our experience confirms the negative reviews from the past year. There is no Deep Blue dive boat; there has...

We just finished our 10 day stay at Deep Blue. When we went to dive our first day we had the pleasure of diving with Joshua and captain Carry. If Carry's laugh alone doesn't make you laugh than you don't know what funny is. I rented a BCD and regulater from Deep Blue and it was in horrible condition, along...

I visited Deep Blue Resort last year Septmeber and enjoyed my stay immensely. At this time of year I preptty much had the resort and diving to myself. The accomodations were great, spacious and everything you can expect for the reasonable all inclusive price your paying which include three boat dives a day. The solitude and rest was much needed....

“Since the resort is located only meters from the water, you will hear the sound of waves. All rooms are great.Note, Deep Blue is a dedicated dive resort, not really a family resort, and if you don't dive, there is not much else to do. The resort is across the canal from the township of Utila. Home to whale shark project and iguana conservation center. It is also an endeared community of backpackers, divers and "alternative" travelers. I love this place and I fit in much more with the town folk than I do as a "resort " diver. Getting here can be challenging but not difficult, have a good travel agent familiar with the area.”
