Good hotel, centrally located next to Quetzaltenango's big square, with large and spotless rooms. A bit past its prime, but nice all the same. A shame that the swimming pool was not heated - it can't be used in summer. Decent service, breakfast was OK.

The Bonifaz has always been the better hotel in Xela and has been kept up with. The rooms have internal windows and you can hear everything going on here though. I like softer bedding and the beds are rock hard...even the pillows. If that is not an issue for you then everything else is great. Nice restaurant, center of town...

The service, cleanliness, and quality were similar to the excellent customer service standards from the 50s. Everyone was well dressed, nice, and the entire property was spotless. I loved getting up everyone morning to a white glove style breakfast and having water waiting in the room. I'm from the US and stay in top quality hotels weekly. This stay just...

The Pensión Bonifaz has two features to recommend it: an excellent location on a corner of Xela's main square, and a staff that really tries hard to please despite the challenges. That said, here's the distilled essence: although the public spaces are charming, the rooms are awful. Do not stay here unless you are promised, in writing, a room either...

The hotel is a classic in the Xela, they've been there for over 100 years. They have an amazing location, pretty good parking space, the rooms are a bit weird, but they've been recently renovated. Their sunday brunch is amazing, a big buffet of delicious breakfast food. They are THE PLACE to have a party in Xela, so expect noise...

Hotel is ok, clean and enough, nothing fancy. The size and details as a colonial building are great, but the main problem was noise; extremely noisy with sounds, music and lots of people walking around. Hair dryer was not working and they didn't replace it. There is no air conditioning in the room and although outside the temperature was cool,...

I think this was my third time staying at Bonifaz and the main attraction is the location. The restaurant continues to be terrible, so don't even bother. The rooms however are clean and on par with most of the other hotels in Xela. I did learn on this trip however that there is a vast difference between rooms of the...

Bonifaz is in an elegant colonial building situated in arguably Xela's most beautiful district adjacent to the Parque Central. The staff is very pleasant and attentive to detail. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well appointed, but they lack some standard amenities. Without an iron and ironing board, one is obliged to pay for overpriced laundry services. There's also no...

If you plan to stay in this hotel you will not need an alarm clock. we stayed one night on May the 11th and at 4am you get the floor cleaner and replacement of the furniture, at 5am the traffic noise of the street, at 6am the staff preparing the breakfast and for 7am onward the clients getting into the...
