This is a truly special place on the lake outside Santiago. Gorgeous views of the town and the volcanoes. Jungle type grounds with nice pool and sauna. Handful of rooms - all with good views of the water. The staff is lovely. Diego took us on a wonderful hike. The waiters are lovely. The rooms need a little new paint...

Concerning the view, the village of Santiago is not the best you can get. El Bambu itself is a small paradise. Beautiful gardens, a beautiful bungalow, very tranquil and most of all : every single staff member was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time here !

I stayed at the hotel with a group of friends. We had cottage 1 and 2. The place is located on right on the Lake, within very nicely landscaped and manicured grounds. Comfortable but basic accommodations. Beds were large with nice firm mattresses; bathroom of good size but basic, still had shampoo and soap supplied. A pitcher of purified water...

We stayed here for 3 nights when travelling Central America and whilst we found the hotel and gardens really pleasant at first we soon became frustrated. The staff were really lovely on arrival and helped us to our room but once we got into our room we were disappointed to find that the rooms really needed updating, the walls looked...

This place felt and looked more like a resort than a hotel. It was simply amazing. I was a bit worried when we were traveling down the dirt road to the hotel, but when we started walking down the stone pathways I quickly realized we were in the right place. The grounds were very well maintained, the photos hardly do...

We were only visiting for a long weekend in Guatemala and so our time was very precious. The ride down from Antigua in a minibus was pretty long so arriving at Bambu was heaven. After checking in and offloading bags in our room, we headed straight to the patio at the restaurant and stayed there for four hours, relaxing and...

Stunning view and great access to the Atitlán Lake. Spend 2 nights in the hotel for visiting the birding areas nearby. I did climb the Paquisis trail following an ancient Maya trail in search for Mountain trogon and black throated jay, and we got them. Good breakfast and meals, awesome view and friendly staff. The recommendation is to make some...

The hotel is like a natural paradise. It is green all over, it has all kinds of different plants and flowers. The staff is very friendly. I have spent a week in this hotel for the last several years. I enjoy the view which oversees the Lake Atitlan and a volcano.

This was our second trip to Lake Atitán. Last year we stayed in Panajachel - not a very pretty town, but lots of restaurants and shops and a Tuesday market, that is quite good - next to the fire station. Don´t miss it. Because rates were more than double for Easter week, we reserved at the Bambu in Santiago Atitlan....

I have traveled considerably and have never stayed in a hotel that is more pleasant. The gardens complement the setting on the lake surrounded by volcanoes. The rooms are clean, quiet and well appointed. The food is great, with an abundance of local fruits and foods available. Everyone is so friendly and ready to drop whatever they are doing to...
