I just returned from my fifth annual visit to Santiago Atitlan, each time staying at the fabulous Posada. It's a trip I look forward to every February, and nothing beats walking in and having the staff remember my name. I could go on and on about what calls me back.... the lovely and affordable rooms decorated with local art, the...

My daughter and I just returned from Santiago where we had the great pleasure of staying in Casa Cafetal at the Posada. First things first. The beds were to die for. The coffee that was in our room was the best I've ever tasted and the view from inside the room was priceless. There is true privacy. Each lodge is...

This place is great, with rooms from a mission style dorm to a hacienda, and lovely suits, single cottages, everything you could want. The staff can arrange historical tours or birding, lots of local charm, live music on the weekends, I could go on and on. The staff has good enough English, and good Spanish. The menu is awesome. If...

My wife and I stayed two nights at Posada de Santiago as a bit of a splurge and were not disappointed. The posada has quite a nice location in a sheltered bay on Lake Atitlan (it can be quite windy), very friendly staff and a good restaurant. We particularly appreciated the hot tub after unseasonably cold weather. Our guidebook didn't...

This is the kind of place you dream about. Not glitzy and not primitive, with thoughtful comforts, like a spigot with purified water in the pretty rooms (casitas with one queen and one single bed and a hammock out front). The lodge-like dining room has good food with several vegetarian options. The grounds are full of flowers, drinks are cheap...

This is individual stone built cabins in beautifully kept grounds. The cabins have an open fire if you want it. They do not have a television, or a phone, or wifi. The main building is beautiful. It's a reception area, meeting area and restaurant. You can get wifi here. Views out over the lake and to the volcanoes are wonderful....

We only booked one night at the Posada. The whole place is beautiful and well maintained. Although the price of the rooms is not cheap, it is good value. The room we had didn't have a television or phone but did have a drinking water tap and safe. There is a fireplace and firewood if so required. We tried to...

We will be back soon. We'll bring our visitors to Antigua Guatemala here for bird watching relaxing and great meals. Eat in the Mirador for breakfast and enjoy the view. Dinner in the dining room was a delight. the fire in our own fireplace replaced the evening chill with cheery warmth. Walking the grounds frequently was always new and interesting....

Posada de Santiago is uniquely suited to Lake Atitlan. Consistently high quality dining, comfortable, if basic, rooms, and a restful pool and dock. Colorful history. I greatly appreciated the in-room filtered water, plentiful hammocks, and complimentary mosquito coils and candles, and its location: sufficiently far from town for peace & quiet, while close enough to walk.

The pool, sauna, hot tub,and canoe trips under the San Pablo volcano were romantic. The margaritas, cappuccinos and beautifully crafted delectable meals were a delight. The staff were polite friendly and professional. The rooms were clean with safe water and outside the doors are flowering gardens, trees of oranges, avocados and exotic hummingbirds, doves, local grackles and thrush. The highlights were a boat trip around...
