This is such a great hotel! It has views, big grounds, nooks for privacy and a great pool. It has everything from suites to dorm rooms, great views, and a staff that just couldn't be beat. Their English is a work in progress, but their hospitality unmatched. There weren't many American guests, but their should be. We got to watch game 7 of the world series on the big screen in the dining room. The balconies are great. The paths around the grounds are even the lighting is great, the stairs are well lighted, and easy to climb, and have hand rails. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but believe me, it is.
This hotel is beautiful with AMAZING views of Lake Atitlan and the volcanoes!!! The rooms are large and spacious. The bathroom is really nice!! The shower is large! The food is A+!! The staff and service is great!! The swimming pools are a nice size and very clean!! I would definitely stay here again! I highly recommend!!
The rooms are vast and clean verging on clinical, and the staff a delight, but the whole layout is designed around several water features, from fountains to swimming pools, and the water was shut off for repairs. Yes, the lake is there to swim in, and the sauna still available to steam your ills, but if you book, make sure the pool's fixed. If not, go to Posada de Santiago, which offers more for the same $.
This is a very nice hotel with extensive landscaped grounds which to the lakefront. A nice oasis, but still one block from Calle Principal. The rooms are large and the balconies have a table and chairs, and an electric outlet (so you can plug in your laptop while sitting on the balcony). Complementary coffeemaker and coffee in your room every day. Super friendly staff. Good restaurant on the grounds, plus a traditional steam hut and swimming pool. The lakefront offers a beautiful view of nearly Volcan San Pedro, spectacular.
Beautiful gardens, the suite we got was huge!! We stayed there for 5 days and I could be more happier. The view our room had was gorgeous. My room was cleaned every day, these ladies did and excellent job. Elizabeth the lady from the front desk was super sweet and very helpful. We ate at the hotel twice, food was good but a little pricey I think there are more options if you look around the town, be careful if you bring dollars, make sure they give you the right change! This happened to me at the restaurant, they were charging me more money. Overall, good experience and even though i traveled in December, it wasn't cold.
My family and I, about 23 persons in total, spent three days at the Tiosh Abaj and enjoyed every moment! Beautifully landscaped, friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, excellent food and just a short walk to the Main Street of shops and restaurants. I couldn't ask for more. A special thank you to the two young men in the restaurant, they did such a great job taking care of our group during our stay. I would definitely stay here again.
We recently went to stay at this hotel over the weekend. It was much nicer than expected. Great clean rooms, super large size, nice beds, hot water, tv, safe parking, friendly staff, etc. The towels provided are quite old, but not that bad. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. The grounds of the hotel are a wonderland, better than the photos and go on and on. Lots of beauty and animals to see here. Amazing natural rock sauna. You can walk right up to the lake with a beautiful dock, places to sit, etc. Highly recommend a boat tour to the cities around the lake for a day. The restaurant is great for breakfast. Lunch and dinner are acceptable and convenient, but not the best. Overall I highly recommend staying here, a real jewel of a place. Chris & Irma from Seattle, Washington USA.…
The hotel room is very comfortable and spacious with a nice balcony overlooking the vulcano,s and City. The hotel has a good atmosphere ,nice gardens, swimmingpool and restuarant. Also you can use the spa pool. The meals are tastefull and great service. We had dinner in the main restaurant and breakfasts outside on the patio. They have there own vegetables and herb gardens what they use in the meals. In the evening they have a nice fire burning on the end of the garden were also is an bar and overlooking the lake. You can join and mix with the other guests.the front desk people are very helpful.
After deciding to spend two days here, we ended up staying a week. Santiago de Atitlan is a very interesting city, but crowded and intense. But the Tiosh Abaj is a world unto itself. The grounds were amazing, the rooms were very comfortable and nice, and we had breakfast and often dinner there. Friendly people, great food, a pool, and relatively inexpensive. Would stay there again in a minute. They also have a sauna/sweat lodge that we used next to the lake.
We stayed here for 5 nights and only saw a few other guests on Sat night. That's fine, nice to have a whole hotel to yourself. The staff were all very friendly (even the gardeners). The pool was cleaned every day, everywhere is kept very tidy, the gardens are extensive and lovely, and there are excellent views from the private dock on the lake. The rooms are huge and I'd recommend asking for the top floor as the views are better. There was plenty of hot water in the shower but you do have to run it for a very long time before it gets hot. Breakfast wasn't included in the price and averaged around Q30-40, snack menu ranged from Q40-50 for stuff like chicken / burger and chips, we didn't eat here much but went to a bar/restaurant just up the road. However, we did get caught out and had a bottle of wine one evening which cost nearly £30 (Q275) for a cheap bottle of Chilean wine you can buy at home in the supermarket for £8. That is some heck of a markup. Wifi access is limited, good in the public areas but only accessible on the balcony of our bedroom. …
