This was our first time in Guatemala and it was a great surprise. We flew into Guatemala City and hired a driver from Atitlan Adventures in Panajachel. It was cheaper than booking through the hotel for 4 of us. The drive was long (3 1/2 hrs) from the airport especially during the rain but it was nice to see the...

This is one of my favorite hotels in the world. We are returning there next week for the 3d time. The main part of the hotel is exquisitely kept and decorated with local art, the dining room is colorful with friendly staff, colorfully clad in local dress. One has gorgeous views of the high altitude, volcano circled Lake Atitlan from...

Panajachel is still a place that has not seen the uber development we see where views are breathtaking. I am not exactly sure why (government rules about property ownership with outsiders), but this place has an incredible view of Lake Atitlan and the volcanoes in the background. The food was good too. The place has its own feel. It does...

Everyone at hotel very accommodating and friendly. A warm welcome by gracious people. Grounds and gardens are beautiful, pool area was nice and view was spectacular. All rooms face Lake Atitlan. The only negative is that the hotel is a bit 'worn'. Guest rooms could use and upgrade--especially the bedding. Mattresses were very very hard and sheets were well-worn. I...

My boyfriend and I stayed in April 2014 when it was full of guests. I would have given the hotel a top-notch rating but it lacks in customer service. Restaurant: I ordered a continental breakfast with hot tea. I never got my tea. The coffee is nothing to write home about. Being a luxury hotel in a land that produces...

We stayed there for 3 nights in a double room. During our stay the hotel was rather empty - one of the nights we were only 5 guests and the restaurant and bar were locked shut at 7pm and the corridors leading to our room were pitch black. The room is very basic and somewhat outdated. It has no safe,...

The key to success is to upgrade to a suite, if not you are at a 2 star rather than 4 star property. The views are un matched if you have a balcony and see the volcanos and the lake, With the upgrade you are allowed room service ; a plushy bath robe ; towls enouggh for two and the...

It is a nice hotel with a lot of "traditional" Guatemalan styling. The rooms are comfortable, but we had a shower that worked more or less & the WiFi service in the room was pathetic. The views & grounds are great & pool is nice. Service was OK although they don't provide transportation to town after 6:00 PM which I...

we spent two nights at the Hotel. Rooms are very comfortable, but the Hotel needs some refurbishment in the room. On the other hand the gardens around the hotel are magnificent, and it is worthwhile to spend time around. The hotel is a bit far from town but not a big issue. To sum up, good base if you want...
