I have stayed here several times in the past few years and I always looked forward to a stay! It was authentically Maya run and a good introduction back to Guatemala with the authentic rooms and gentle kindness!
Now, if they just eliminated the free bkst, I could live with that! …
Clean room, good value. Since i live in the Lake Atitlan area, called them and made a reservation for Q250 for two. I would recommend this hotel to travelers. Lots of places to eat nearby, I recommend Las Chinitas up Santander, lefthand side.
We always stay at Mario's rooms and have so for years. The staff is always very friendly and the rooms very clean. I would recommend staying in one of the rooms on the first floor though since those are the quiet ones.
Read reviews saying 15$ a night. They wanted 750 quetzals (100+$). It was very pretty and quiet but overpriced. With two beds in the room, very crowded. Found a nice new hotel around the corner for 200 quetzals (27$).
This is Marios Tours, presumably an offshoot of Marios Hotel.
I got Marios Tours to book the ziplining just outside Pana.
In hindsight, this is easier to do yourself than via a tour company.
However, i was short on time and booked through Marios Tours.
went the 5 minutes out of…
"Back rooms on second floor."
"We stayed upstairs and had a nice little table outside."
"They have a room in the back with 3 beds."
"Get the rooms at the back of the hotel"
"Try for a room in the back of the hotel...away from the street."
