Nice “hidden gem” close to the airport. Outdoor areas to visit and beer available on site for sale. Clean rooms. Airport transportation available. Breakfast in the morning is adequate with breads, rolls, juice and coffee.
From the airport it’s a 17Q cab ride with Uber. Airport taxies wanted 40Q. The place is in a fenced and gated community with no stores, restaurants, etc in it. They do sell pop and beer and hamburgers. Breakfast starts at 3:30 and was cold cereal, muffins, bread, ham, coffee and OJ. Hostel has no street noise but there was constant banging from construction outside, even throughout the night. At checkin, lady spoke no English. Thank god for google translate. No hot water. Portable fan in room
Stayed several days. Bkfst consisted of corn flakes, chocolate crispy cereal, pancakes (sometimes), big muffins, juice, milk, and coffee. Dining tables were not clean and were sticky. Sleeping room was sufficient but not much space for suitcases. Large fan helped circulate air and drown out noise. Staff was pleasant.
They offer shuttle service to and from the airport. I was told they were going to be waiting for me with a sign outside the airport. I arrived late at night, and surprise!!! There was NO ONE from Euro Hostal (as promised). I had to borrow a phone from a local guy (paid him a tip) to call the hostal and they said “oh, you’re already there, we’re coming”. What if u had no way to contact them? In the morning they offer a varied breakfast, but no information whatsoever. It’s like they don’t like to be bothered by tourist. Still, it’s cheap and close to the airport
Such a good place to stay. I bought a "fake ticket" to prove that I had a departure plan out of Costa Rica with the intention of cancelling it. So I bought this overpriced, crappy flight with a one-night layover in Guate City. Long store short, I forgot to cancel it and found myself stuck, yet another blunder on my part. I would probably have to take a cab to a hostel or pay for some airport hotel. Luckily, I found Euro Hostal! Free airport shuttle and minutes from the airport made the experience seamless. Once I arrived, they asked me when I would need the shuttle in the morning and showed me to my room. I laid down in the bed and fell asleep for the next 9 hours (nice real beds and linens - not bunk beds)! I got tea and a huge chocolate muffin before I left for my 6 AM flight and had the most relaxed flight to Nicaragua. English is limited and you might have to call them to schedule your airport pickup. They didn't respond to my FB messages.…
