What some accommodation lacks in perfectly painted walls and comforts, makes up with superb hospitality, as is the case of Casa Jocotenango in Guatemala. The neighbourhood feels a little unsafe, but we found walking around in the dayligt hours quite safe and close to churches and the Central markets. the rooms were basic, but senior Louise was fabulous.

Stayed here with my husband on our recent trip to Guatemala City. The room was very simple but had a nice character. The host was very helpful, offering loads of travel advice and spoke very good English. The location was nice and quiet, but not far from restaurants and the main square. Felt very safe. I would stay here again when next visiting Guatemala City.
