It's a misery using North American standard, but after living in Guatemala for one week and learning the local ways. Both my partner and I enjoyed this hotel for no other reasons than the hot water shower!!! Trust me, if you travel in Guatemala, you would know that all place's shower is a joke with trickling droplet of lukewarm-more-like-cold water... This place is an exception. I can't say the same about the area, kind of sketchy, we were afraid to walk at night. But the hotel felt safe though. Rooms are a bit tiny.
Took room for a couple The room itself was ok. The shower was very hot. The people wasn't nice, and it locate in a dangerous street. More dangerous then the other hostels in zona 1. We chose to move. We paid 195 Q, more the hotel fenix, that was better.
This is a great value budget hotel a short walk from the main square, yet located in a quiet street. No frills, but a tv in the room. My single room on the top floor, with bathroom along the corridor (in fact, outside on the roof!) cost $6 in summer 2005. Would highly recommend this hotel if you want just basic comfort at a rock-bottom price.
