I know this hotel from the 60's when everyone working for the Tikal Project stayed here overnight for $5.00/night connecting to an Aviateca flight into the Peten. There were no roads into the north back then. In the lobby, they have an old register on display. We used to sign in and look over to see who else was here....

Good location. Near to 6th Avenue which is the pedestrian only walking street. Lots of restaurants and shops on this street. The Hotel is also close to the Main Plaza. The rooms in the hotel are very sparse and small, but they are clean. The open quart yard in the lobby is a nice place to have breakfast. Its like...

That's about all you can say. Nice art deco in the hall, staff friendly if a bit indifferent, room clean but not beautiful, hot water without much pressure, typical local food without much character. We booked it from Switzerland to have a place to sleep after the flight and thats about what it was.

This is a central hotel right in the heart of the main attractions of the City. Yes the rooms are tired, the tiles on the floor are cracked and the towels and sheets are a bit grey but only due to age and they were certainly spotless and beautifully pressed so that getting into bed was a pleasure. The rooms...

An adequate, sometimes comfortable, aged hotel in a central location. Pan American Hotel has great history, surprisingly swift wireless, tasty food and poor-to-average rooms. Acceptable bathrooms and linens; no real amenities. The property is aged but well-cared for, located in a middle-class shopping district and very close to the main plaza. The neighborhood was formerly sketchy but now much safer...

This is an very nice hotel in the heart of the Historic district. I found it to be charming and comfortable, clean and convenient to the local culture. Mariachi bands play on the street below your window and there are all kinds of restaraunts, nearby. If you want the luxury of a brand new hotel you have other choices but...

While the hotel may have lost much of its past glory it is certainly the best located hotel for travelers who prefer to be close to where the city's attractions are. The rooms are simple but clean, and the hotel's interior is colonial boasting historical charm everywhere you look. Super friendly staff, it's now environmentally friendly certified and has the...

This fabulously old and interesting hotel has so many pros that outway the con. I am a missionary and I took the pastor at least 5 times this past summer for lunch and dessert. What I love about the restaurant is the feel of being in a number of tall atrium-style hotels in Europe. Fascinating to me was the effiency...

If you want a really good taste of the Guatemalan cuisine, the restaurant at the Pan-American hotel it's the place to go. The wait for the food it's a little long, but that is expected as they are literally cooking the food on that moment. Try the "Cocido" or the "Mosaico" , the have a really delicious taste and quality....

I arrived in Guatemala City at night, pick up was to be the next day so booked into the pan American overnight. Single standard room was about $15. Comfortable bed, standard basic facilities - TV, bedside cabinet with lamp, desk and mirror. Not much more to say.
