Quetzalroo is not fancy, but it is clean, safe, and comfortable. It is extremely close to the airport, and they provide free pick up and drop off. Marcos (a member of the family that runs the hostel) is extremely knowledgable of things to do and see not only in Guatemala City, but in other places of the country. Extremely friendly...

We were picked up at the airport at 6 am, no waiting required, and at the hotel in 15minutes, safe and sound. What a comfort for first time G city visitors! All the staff were particularly friendly and helpful, especially Marcos. Our drop off to the bus station to Flores included a city tour. Great value for a city hostel...

My son booked us into here for our first night in Guatemala. I would thoroughly recommend this family run business for all travellers. We were met at the airport, had private rooms with shared bathrooms and were looked after amazingly well. We couldn't thank Marcos and his mother enough for making us feel so welcome. They organised a city tour...

I’m not in the habit of writing reviews, but felt compelled to say a thing or two in this instance. What sets Quetzalroo apart from other hostals is not the shared dorms, although perfectly standard, spic-and-span clean and what you would typically expect from a hostal dorm, and then some. Nor is it the location, though literally minutes away from...

I travelled Guatemala with my family (brother and mature parents) over the Christmas period and quetzalroo was our first stop. We had heard less than complementary reviews of Guatemala City and were consequently nervous of arriving and staying here due to safety. When we arrived we phoned Quetzalroo from a tourist information spot in the airport ($1) and they picked...

I was disappointed with Quetzalroo. I opted for this hostel based on the many positive reviews, and the free airport pick up and drop off. I had one night in Guate before heading to Antigua and thought this would be a good, easy option. I was able to make a last minute reservation with Marcos through email which was very...

Located just a short drive from the airport it is an exellent place to stay when arriving late/leaving early. I came in with a bus to the center and they...

Quetzalroo meets all of your basic requirements in terms of rooms, beds, bathrooms, breakfast and wifi. Where it excels is in its excellent customer service and the enthusiasm the owners have for showing visitors both Guatemala City and Guatemala in both an honest and positive light. Many people told me I was crazy to stay even one night in GC...

This hostel was very disappointing especially after reading such good reviews. I emailed to book a room but didn't get a response so I rang and was told that a private room would be booked for me and to ring them when I arrived to get the free lift. After an 18 hour bus ride from Managua I rang the...

“Rooms upstairs do not get wifi, that's the only bummer, if you have a private room that is likely the case. All the shared rooms have wifi so no worries there.”

“The private rooms aren't that private - you can hear everything from the dorm and vice versa. There's no internet on the lower floor - not sure about the rooms on the same level as reception.”
