I don’t typically write Internet reviews, however my experience at Quetzalroo has so far surpassed any expectations I had for a hostel that I wanted to share my experience. I’m currently traveling by motorcycle from the U.S. through Latin America. I’m currently more than 10,000 miles and almost three months from home and I have stayed in a variety of...

2 Girlfriends and I arrived in Guatemala City on 12/21/2012 and made Quetzalroo our base camp in Guatemala because of the impeccable service we received. Marcos was helpful from the moment we arrived. He laid out all there was to do in ALL of Guatemala (not just Guatemala City). He drew a map of Guatemala, showed us videos, & was...

This hostel takes customer service to new levels. It all starts with an airport pick up. The owner is a walking, talking lonely planet and advises you on where to go in the country, where to stay, and how to get there. In the evenings if you wish to eat at the hostel they provide excellent food and this a...

Great people and good location, the owners are very knowledgable about the city and local history. A good bet is a city tour with Marcos to get a true taste of the misnomer that is Ciuadad Guatemala. Nice bonus is secure parking.

As a hostel owner myself I'm a lot more judgmental then most about the hostels I stay in. But these guys are amazing. I've stayed in the private rooms and dorm beds and have always had a comfortable nights sleep. One of my favorite things about this hostel is the owners. They are amazing host and really go out of...

I arrived here early in the morning after a hellish journey from Managua. I was greeted by a smiling Manuel who should me to my room and then gave me a little list of things I could do that day before heading to Flores the next. I met up with other travellers and we went to the market and then...

Quetzalroo is not fancy, but it is clean, safe, and comfortable. It is extremely close to the airport, and they provide free pick up and drop off. Marcos (a member of the family that runs the hostel) is extremely knowledgable of things to do and see not only in Guatemala City, but in other places of the country. Extremely friendly...

We were picked up at the airport at 6 am, no waiting required, and at the hotel in 15minutes, safe and sound. What a comfort for first time G city visitors! All the staff were particularly friendly and helpful, especially Marcos. Our drop off to the bus station to Flores included a city tour. Great value for a city hostel...

“Rooms upstairs do not get wifi, that's the only bummer, if you have a private room that is likely the case. All the shared rooms have wifi so no worries there.”
