I like the hotel but be aware of your belongings. I left few items and in less than 24 hours they disappear. The lady in the front desk acknowledge that they found my things but for some reason and supposed they put them in the "garbage" Then they agreed to reimburse me but they never did. Be aware with the people that worse here because they're not honest!
We stayed here with a large group of swimmers for a competition, as it is walking distance from the olympic pool. The rooms exceeded our expectations: recently renewed, clean, quiet, with a great view of the volcanoes and the kitchen was equipped with specialty items such as cheese knives, paper towels and dish soap. Staff was very friendly and helpful when in need of transportation or recommendations. Uber is quite good here, so make sure you get a phone chip at the supermarket La Torre, about 2 k from the hotel. The garden is a Japanese jewel in the middle of the city: our kids loved playing hide abd seek there. Just remember to memorize the address, as the neighborhood guard will request it every time you come in. We highly recommend it and would not hesitate to come back. Thank you for putting up with our loud teen crowd and for always being so helpful. Ana Rojas Artistic Swimming team Costa Rica…
I stayed in a a 1 bedroom efficiency. The room was large enough. The staff kept it always clean. Twice there was little or no hot water in the morning -- seemed to be that the water heater was not working correctly. A word with the office staff corrected the problem. Security is very good. The large garden is a place for relaxation.
We stayed here about a week with a group in July. My husband & I stayed in a corner, modern room w/queen-size bed (hard mattress) with a furnished kitchenette, modern bathroom, and nice view looking on the street access. It was beautiful viewing the mountain covered by clouds in the morning. With our windows open, the air (no air conditioning) was delightful and we were comfortable. The maid service was great although I did have to ask in the office for additional toilet paper once as we were completely out. The bathroom tissue dispenser did not have tissues when we arrived nor did they ever. On each landing there was a water cooler, but we ran out often (on each level) and had to request more water several times. A negative was that we were woken up repeatedly (even at 2:30 and 4am) by a rooster crowing and there were numerous dogs barking, especially one that hung out by the hotel or next door. With no ac and the windows open, it was sometimes hard to get asleep and stay asleep with these sounds. The guard at the gate was always kind and considerate. And the gardens...oh my...they are beautiful!…
The hotel is ok, with decent rooms and a pretty garden... But: We stayed there for an extended period. Had to pay all up front, and the managers did not let us know about serious and loud renovation on floor below. They could not reimburse so they offered a voucher, which was obviously not an option. So we stayed there, coped with the noise, and had to face reluctant administrative staff the whole time. Also, all the services like laundry etc. are out of price (like $5 per shirt). Would only recommend in last resort.
