When we arrived in the room, my friend found a hair in her bed. We were changed room but without balcony The original room had the smallest tv ever. Bedsheets are not ironed, confirmed by staff. 2 wooden hangers, all the others are the metal ones you get free from the dry cleaners. Frames are mirror were dirty. No kettle in the room or available from reception. Soaps are in small sachets (such as ketchup ones). You can hear the noise from outside, so not well insulated. Breakfast is very poor. Coffee tastes like black water, not much to choose from. We were offered coffee OR juice. We don’t eat bananas so asked to have other fruit with the pancakes and were given 2 strawberries instead. The restaurant is located at the entrance outdoor and at breakfast time you eat al fresco- so not a pleasant temperature. The rooms are very spacious and staff very friendly and try to help. We have travelled around Guatemala and for this price, the hotel ( more like an aparthotel ) needs to improve.

We were looking for a place because we were visiting family in Jutiapa, and we decided this place would do since we didn’t plan on doing much there. We arrived at 2 am, and thankfully they had staff available to check us in. Very pleasant, and old school meaning, we made the reservation and normally you get a confirmation email. Here, it’s written in a notebook. She gave us the key to our room, and off we went The rooms are really outdated, and the beds were really uncomfortable. Also, the pillows were really thin. They had one towel, soap, and a shampoo packet on each bed. The TV mounted on the wall was really small, I think it was 15” but, small. The bathroom was sufficient, again out dated. We were in a panic because we weren’t getting hot water in the shower. Housekeeping happens to be a few doors down, so they called maintenance. In a few minutes the man was in our room explaining we needed to let the water fun for a few minutes. They have an on-site restaurant, so we ate breakfast there. No problem, walk in, sit down, and the waiter was right there. They offered traditional Guatemalan food, it was fresh both days, and so we had no complaints. The property is very well maintained, they have armed guards roving the property, so from a safety perspective, nothing to worry about. The pool is huge, and the two days we were there, I guess the locals can pay to use the pool, it wasn’t crowded at all, but the pool is massive. Overall, we’ll stay here again. Our interaction with the staff was pleasant, and despite the rooms being dated, it’s cheap, and you can’t beat that.

We have stayed at Residencia del Sol several times I past years. The bathrooms are getting shabby and need an overhaul. Mold in the tub. Also the restaurant is not the same since Eduardo left. The meals and service were sub standard. I've always like staying here but will probably stay elsewhere.

Located in a commercial area which appears to be safe during the day (we only went out by taxi at night so can't comment about the safety of walking on nearby streets after dark). The hotel is clean and our tile-floor room large with comfortable beds. Our room had a large balcony with beautiful tree beyond. The bathroom has dated fixtures. The included breakfast is basic but fine and personnel are friendly and helpful.
