The journey to this lodge involved an hour in a car from the airport then an hour or so in a boat. This second half was the beginning of an amazing three days of birdwatching, and would have been worth the trip alone. We saw three ospreys before we even reached our destination! The lodge itself is not luxurious (no...

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our honeymoon and what can I say? Lamanai outpost is exceptional! You can choose 2 activities per night you stay so there's always plenty to do! We especially loved the medicine walk/village experience with Brenda which was very interesting finding out about the uses of all the...

Location, activities, staff, food, and lodging made Lamanai Outpost Lodge one of the most special places we've ever visited. The remote lodge is situated on the bank of a river, tucked into the jungle with beautiful wildlife and mammoth jungle trees. The trip there was exciting - about a 45 minute shuttle followed by about 45 minute speedboat trip to...

We stopped here for lunch after our tour of lamanai. The restaurant is open air and overlooks the river… It's absolutely stunning. They only serve one thing per meal which could be an issue if you're a picky eater… But luckily we were there on quesadilla day. Lunch was delicious, and the hibiscus juice was to die for. The two...

The lodge was better than I was expecting, which is the right way round! As it was very quiet we were upgraded to a lagoon view cabana and I could lie in bed in the morning and watch through the slatted window the sun rise over the lagoon - gorgeous! A spacious room with plenty of places to put things,...

We stayed for 4 nights in order to partake of the 8 different guided activities on offer as part of our package. We did them all: dawn bird watch (keel-billed toucans are a certainty); sunrise canoe on the lagoon/creek; night hike around the site; sunset boat ride with cocktails or beer (highly recommended); visit to Lamanai Mayan ruins, which are...

My husband I and I just returned from 4 nights at Lamanai Outpost Lodge. The entire experience was exceptional and far exceeded our expectations. The #1 reason was the staff. Every single person who works there radiates happiness and it's infectious. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy the excursions just as much as the guests! My recommendation...

Not that easy to reach - 1 hour from the main airport, then another hour or so on a boat - but it's worth it. The boat trip itself is an experience - we saw a few interesting birds, including an Osprey munching on a fish - on the way. Atmosphere was super relaxed when we were there....as we were...
