This property consists of a number of small structures and types of accommodations spread along a relatively undeveloped stretch of beach eight miles north of Placencia in southern Belize. They all focus around a main building that houses the bistro, reception, a small lounge, and...More
Located right on the beach just steps from the sea, this hotel has nice rooms and fantastic service. You can borrow the standup paddle boards, kayaks and bikes to zip around on sea or land. The open air restaurant happily accommodated my vegan diet.
First, please note that this is a review of the hotel NOT the restaurant. The restaurant has been reviewed separately,
My biggest complaint about this place is that the website is misleading. The beach is not a long beach for walking. The sand and shore...More

There is a small shuttle airport on Placencia, that you can fly into and out of to BZE. I can't tell you about rental cars but if you are staying on the peninsula I would recommend a golf cart (yes, they are allowed on the road but be back before dark because there are no street lights and it is very dark). Consider hiring a car and driver if you want to travel around for a day or two or take a tour to the various sights. We stayed in the Flip Flop Palace at the Maya Beach Hotel (they can help with transportation to/from the airport). Maya Beach hotel is NOT a big, glitzy hotel but small, very nice and quiet (read the reviews). We stayed there for 10 days. The restaurant is the best in the area and is a short beach walk. There are 4 rooms in the Flip Flop Palace, 2 upper and 2 lower. We stayed in #2 upper, if you want to be on the beach take a lower. There is a scuba shop in town that has very nice scuba/snorkle trips (you can swim with nurse shark).

"Would not recommend the lower suite in the Dreamsicle. Neighbors can be loud!"
