I was charged $52 more than the website quoted me. In addition, when I got to the hotel I was told the hotel was oversold and we were moved to another, cheaper hotel. The new hotel was US$20 cheaper than the Belcove for the same night, but still I was charged as if I stayed at the Belcove and not, at the other hotel. (And on top of that difference there was the extra $52 charge.) After a long conversation with the manager she agree to refund the difference. # weeks later, it still hasn't happened. I had to contact my Credit Card company to look into it. SHADY!!
Belcove was the first place I stayed in Belize as a solo traveler and the staff made me feel SO comfortable right away. They really went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. I really, really appreciate this expecially as a solo female traveler in a new country. They also keep the hotel EXTREMELY clean, I was so impressed 😂 Great value for the price! Highly recommend!
upscale establishments that separate one from experiencing the peoples of Belize so recently freeing themselves from BRITISH Honduras. And be sure to visit the Anglican Church on Sunday, for its history evolves from the depts of English ships ballast bricks arriving in The New World to subjugate peoples.
I stayed at the Belcove on both the first and last day of my vacation in Belize. The staff are friendly and helpful, arranging a taxi to/from the airport for $20 USD. I felt safe as a solo female traveler, although I did not walk around the area at night. The hotel is in a convenient location for both the water taxis and the bus station. The room is comfortable and clean. The fan provided was powerful and I didn't feel that I needed air-conditioning. The window was kept open at night (covered with security bars), so it was a little loud, but earplugs easily blocked out the noise. This is a great ~$30 USD/night hotel for those needing to spend a night in Belize City.
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Belcove for one night. We were extremely well welcomed. We couldn’t ask more from the team there. They were polite, friendly, helpful and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant. The hotel is at a 3 minutes walk away from boat terminals so very convient when coming back from or going to the islands. Yes the street could be a bit noisy at times but it is very punctual. The room was clean and cool. Perfect for our last night before departure. They have nice balconies with view on the water where you could enjoy a nice breeze and beer (sold onsite at very reasonable prices ). I would recommend this hotel as our experience was very positive.
With City Hall in sight from the entrance of The Belcove Hotel, the staff are respectful, attentive and treated me with kindess. The rooms are clean, comfortable and affordable. Grocery stores, banks and shopping areas are just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Sydney (the owner's son) personally escorted me to Marva's restaurant just around the corner where the food is delicious. Thanks Belcove!
Travelling as a solo female I felt safe here. The staff were lovely and helpful! They organized a driver for me to complete the ruin/cave tubing/ and zip lining with transportation - James Taxi *** can’t recommend James more!! He was polite kind and a lot of fun. Made extra stops along the way for some local culture. My room was clean and secure. Lock box was a great added feature! I had a fan in my room - greatly appreciated. The bathroom was small but effective and clean. They provided me with towels which was great! They picked me up from the airport for 25$usd - driver was knowledgeable and kind. My only downfall is the lack of restaurants close by- come sundown walking alone in the streets was a no go and on sundays a lot of things are closed. Otherwise I’d highly recommend Belcove…
There isn’t much to say about the place, it is very simple without add-ons. I couldn’t get a private bath, the shared one is very basic but fullfills its duties. The rooms have a bed and a fan, but are clean and the staff is friendly. The street is in the front, the cannal in the back, but the noise-level could be worst. There is no breakfast, but coffee is served.
For the price they charged, 41 USD, they should offer more. First my room was really warm and the fan provided did not help that much. The mattress and bed were old and do noise. But the problem for me was the shared bathroom and not because it was shared. The tiles were moldy, some of them broken. The shower was too short that I needed to bend a lot to wash my head and face. I would also ask for a bit more of cleaning there since it is shared. Even if I staid there only one day I would expect a bit more for the price. On the light side, the staff was really helpful and nice. They were always ready to help me, to arrange transportation and to reply to my questions. I am thankful to them. The balcony is a really nice place to have fresh air and enjoy the evening, it is probably the best part.…
Rooms are cozy and they are priced from budget with shared bathroom to triple deluxe. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Shanna at the front desk was pleasant and informative. They can arrange transportation if needed. The veranda is a nice spot to relax after a long journey. Location is excellent if you need to conduct business in downtown or need a ferry boat connection to the islands.
