Nice hotel for a short stay. Rooms were comfy and there was a restaurant next door. Walked about 12 minutes to a grocery store. Staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed one night waiting for rest of our travel party. Close to airport. Would stay again.
The place is beautiful and the staff was great. It was an easy walk from the San Pedro Water Taxi. We stayed in a massive room 14 with two queen beds and a small couch. The shower was acceptable and the beds were comfortable enough for us. The extremely helpful front desk staff set up our early morning (5:00 AM) cab ride to the airport and also helped out with ideas for the evening. The only downfall was it can get a bit noisy when people are walking around. It's an old building with wood floors so it was somewhat expected. Overall a great experience though.
What a great hotel this is. The room had character, style and was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the aircon as quite I've ever seen. Great bathroom and tea making facilities. You can see the sea from the terrace. Breakfast in the cafe next door was also good. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.
This three story colonial style “house“ with wraparound porches, has been converted into a hotel. The rooms are warm and well decorated with beautiful hardwood floors. The hotel naturally creeks you can hear the age in the history as you walk on the floors. The air conditioner was cold shower was hot the only catch no elevator. Had to walk up two flights of stairs to get to my room. But for me that was not a problem the rustic beauty of this place was well worth the walk
First off - download Ways before your trip. I paid for International data plan and my iPhone maps would locate the hotel but give zero directions. We used Ways & google maps to navigate. This hotel is only about 9 miles from the airport but getting off a plane and navigating with no GPS was stressful. A weird bridge you have to drive over and a couple gnarly roundabouts where anything goes: cars, trucks, bicycles and mopeds. But once we got to the hotel, it was a quaint colonial style hotel next to the shore - very close (5min walk) to Belize sign and lighthouse. We stayed our first and last night at this hotel, mainly because it looked nice in pictures, was a gold standard hotel and cost was reasonable. The first night we were in room 1 I think, next to the check in desk as soon as you enter hotel. Room was fine, not fancy but not bad either. However, you heard EVERYTHING including staff coming into work early in the morning. Very noisy but we only stayed one night, so not a huge deal except the lack of sleep. AC & ceiling fans- water pressure and temp not so good, but I would stay here again if I were just staying one night coming and going from Belize city. Staff were nice, two bottles of water in the room. Last night we were on about the 3rd floor and it was better for noise except the person above us -maybe an elephant, was so loud and noisy starting around 5am. Noise was a definite issue, but this is an older hotel and expected. The restaurant on the bottom floor was open the night we arrived - Friday but CLOSED on Monday night even tho staff told us it was open, apparently they are closed on Tuesday night but again… annoying for a minute or ten but not a deal breaker. We walked across the street to the Radisson and had dinner. The little cafe La Petite next door was lovely, we went the morning we flew out. The meat pies (pasties) were delicious and they had tea, every coffee shop we went to only had coffee, so I was happy to get some English breakfast on my last day.…
We stayed for New Year's eve prior to flying out. Absolutely loved this lovely hotel. The room was spacious for the four of us, the beds were huge and super comfortable. Same stands for the bathroom - big and well equipped. Very clean all around. I found the air con somewhat loud, but it certainly cooled the room very efficiently. We had a lovely surprise awaiting in our room for celebration at midnight- prosecco, cake and some hats for my girls. Loved our stay and would definitely return.
Just here for an overnight, this was just the thing. Beds comfortable, the restaurant on site decent (don't expect too much, haha, although the server was very sweet!) . Walking distance to the water taxi to the cayes. Clean, pretty quiet. Got a good night's sleep, which is totally what we needed after a long day of travel to get here.
Great historic house located along the Caribbean shore with very friendly staff. Accommodations were comfortable and reliable. I have traveled many times to Belize and when in the city, look forward to my stays at the Great House!
Had a wonderful time people treated me very nicely rooms were clean spacious staff was very kind looking forward to coming back there again the hotel was close to the ocean food an adult drinks or just downstairs and next door closing hand
We spent one night before heading to San Pedro and another on our way back. Large room (with a cot) was perfect for our family with teenage kids. Lots of space, welcome air conditioning; clean, and friendly staff:
