This place was fantastic, and made our stay in Belize amazing. My wife and I stayed at Caye Casa ("Caye" is prounced like "key" in American English) for 6 nights in April 2023 to celebrate being married for 5,000 days (a non-traditional milestone, I know!). We stayed in the first-level King suite and absolutely loved it. Justin and Jake were immediately responsive to my questions over email and provided a lot of helpful information about our interests - restaurant recommendations, organizing a taxi to and from the airport for us, information about dive shops in the area, and reserving a golf cart that was delivered to the hotel for us. The suite was fantastic - we had a full living room with sectional couch, full size dining table, full kitchen with island and large "American" size refrigerator, sink, oven/stove, etc. All the pots and pans, silverware, plates, etc. are provided. They even had all the utensils you'd use in your home kitchen - pizza cutter, bottle openers, serving spoons and spatulas, etc. The balcony was just the best, with views of the water and sunrise that you can see from the couch inside or from the adirondak chairs or hammock outside. Right across the street is Hurricane's, a restaurant/bar over the water with a low-key vibe, GREAT ceviche, and hammocs over the water you can lay in. They also have swings under their dock where you can dangle your legs in the cool water. My wife and I stepped off the dock and picked up conch shells from the waist-deep ocean water. Also across the street is Wayo's, for a slightly louder and more energetic atmosphere. Fun, and while we could hear and enjoy the live band from our porch on the two evenings they had live music, we couldn't hear a sound inside the room. Also Wayo's has good ceviche. Actually all the ceviche is good on the island, you can't go wrong. We saw families at Hurricane's, and got connected to a tattoo artist via the waiter at Wayo's. And that probably best describes the vibe at the two places - we loved them both, for different reasons. We learned that half of the year is conch season and the other half is lobster season. We were there for conch season and there was conch/shrimp ceviche on every menu. We were happy to try them all. :) Conch shells are everywhere if you look for them! Look in the mangrove tree trunks, and mixed in with the seaweed that washes up. We brough home about a dozen conch shells of different sizes. Important to note: you CAN NOT carry-on conch shells to the airplane in your carry-on bag. But Belizean secuirty doesn't have a single sign informing you of that until you've already turned your bags in. Conch shells MUST be in checked luggage. For diving, we had really great experieces with Elite Adventures. They have a store just a few blocks south of Caye Casa, at the Cool Beans Cafe (highly recommend for breakfast, and their spicy sausage with habanero was delicious), where we signed up for our dives. The main dock is north of the bridge at the 303 restaurant, just 5 minues from Caye Casa by golf cart. We had a great day trip out to the Blue Hole, which was cool (they took us to 140 feet, and we saw some really cool stuff). But the other two dives we did on that trip - the Half Moon Caye Wall and The Aquarium - made the whole trip worth it. Plus lunch at Half Moon Caye, an extremely picturesque little island protected by the national government. Wish we could have stayed longer. But the local dives were SOOOOO good, my wife and I agreed in the future we'd just stick with local dives if we can. All the local dives are a quick 5-10 min boat ride away, and are genuinely amazing dive sites. We saw many Loggerhead turtles, reef sharks, nurse sharks, and grouper (we had very very interactive and friendly nurse sharks, we all got to pet them many times and the dive master fed one a lionsfish they had speared during the dive). Local dives are all a 5 minute boat ride from shore and are genuinely world-class dives. Next time (and there definitely will be a next time), we will probably plan for two morning dives each day, and add a one-tank afternoon dive or night dive if we feel like doing another. If the boats are going out for the day, you can always jump on for an extra dive without planning ahead of time. We did have a very windy week, and most dive shops canceled all dives beyond the reef on those days, but Elite Adventures has larger boats and still made trips out to dive. We had two days of planned diving with other shops that canceled on us (after getting up before dawn to make the boat), so we were worried we wouldn't get to dive this week. When we mentioned our difficulties to Jake at Caye Casa, he was immediatley on his cell phone calling dive shops he knows to see if he could get us in. Ultimately, Elite Adventures really took care of us and delivered world class diving experiences. Internet at Caye Casa was always reliable, and we turned off cell service and connected with family via WhatsApp. Everyone on the island uses WhatsApp, so you should download it and use it to connect with dive shops, the folks at Caye Casa, etc. We are definitely, 100%, coming back. Caye Casa was very obviously one of the best little gems on the island. Perfect distance from town (could walk to all the restaurants we wanted or in to town), without being right in the middle of all the noise. This little boutique hotel checked every single one of our boxes, and we wouldn't change a thing. We can't even find a little thing to give constructive feedback about - it was just perfect!…
