My daughter and I stayed in Garden Loft #15. She had a bed/bath upstairs, and I had a bed and shower/bath downstairs. We didn't use the kitchen as much as I thought we would because we ate out a lot, but it was nice. The air conditioning was really great. Even though it was a garden view, we could still see the ocean and pool. I enjoyed the deck quite a bit. I wish we could have had more time to just hang out, but we were only there a few nights. It was very convenient to rent our golf cart and arrange our snorkel trip through the hotel. I walked to the bakery and grocery stores for breakfast, drinks and snacks. There was a restaurant/bar next door that we went to one evening with live music. We also walked to town and back for dinner our last night because we'd already returned the golf cart, and it was quick and easy to do. My favorite part was using the paddleboard - this was actually a big reason I chose Xanadu. I wish we had more use of the pool/hottub because they were pretty, but mostly kids were using the pool. The property is gorgeous, shaded, private, safe and close enough to town for convenience. It's the perfect location. The only complaints I'd have are that our downstairs neighbors were up loud two nights, and the neighboring villa had lights on all night which lit the downstairs quite brightly! The staff were very professional. I would recommend this place for couples, families, anyone!…
This resort is exactly what we were looking for! We spent 3 nights in a two-bedroom unit with our daughter. It was great space, strong AC, and a fabulous deck. The pool was perfect and our daughter loved wandering around the little paths and waterfalls. Staff was super friendly and we really couldn't have asked for more. Book your snorkeling trips through them because the guide they work with is amazing!
I had a great time at the Xanadu and will 100% come back. It's a unique resort with jungle theme right on the beach in San Pedro. I felt safe and the staff were accommodating and helpful from day one!
Xanadu is awesome! Comfortable, beautiful and the staff are super helpful. We’ve stayed there a few times now and it never disappoints. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The grounds are gorgeous.
My group (5 people) had an amazing time. This is a smaller, family friendly place, not an overcrowded commercial property. Someone was always available to answer questions or get what we needed. The bartender Winston was super fun. Orlando helped w/ our luggage and was always a friendly face around the resort. Our van driver Leelo (spelling?) to airport was entertaining. Jessica at the front desk was great, and Ingrid on the phone (because I called no less than 10 times to ask about this and that but I never met her) and Carlos went out of his way to check on us ladies since we were wandering around by ourselves. There is a food cart (Martha's) at the end of the entrance that you must try!
Beautiful suite with full kitchen, comfortable living space, and private veranda with partial view of ocean. Two bedrooms, one king bed, and one with two twin beds. Our older teens found the twin beds a bit small and prone to movement (on rolling casters). We enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub, and there are many comfortable lounge chairs by the pools and on the beach. The sand on the beach was raked daily. Nice site for swimming off the end of the private pier. Super friendly staff. Housekeeping was exceptionally thorough including cleaning dishes. Nice little bar, but no on-site restaurant (but several restaurants within walking distances, including a nice bakery, also grocery stores). Enjoyed being off the street with parking for golf carts and a sense of privacy. The short nature trail was nice, but more for small kids. We would not hesitate to book Xanadu again for our next visit to Ambergris Caye.…
Xanadu Island Resort was perfect. The staff were incredibly responsive and friendly. Our room was perfectly clean and had a great view of the ocean. The kids loved being able to swim at the end of the dock and in the pool. A wonderful "home base" for exploring San Pedro.
What a fantastic experience! The grounds are beautiful, our room was wonderful, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We travelled with our 9 and 11 year olds and they loved the pool, the hammocks and the access to San Pedro (a golf cart isn't strictly necessary, but it's a lot of fun). Christine and Winston were super friendly and helpful with drinks, reservations and equipment. Smoky and the ground staff keep the place looking incredible. Thanks to the entire staff for making it an amazing vacation!
Our family of 4 (including 2 adult children in their late 20s) stayed at Xanadu for 4 nights last week. It was perfect! We rented the 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom suite for a very fair price. The suite was on the 2nd and 3rd floors (outside staircase up to 2nd floor; 2 upstairs bedrooms reachable by spiral staircase). We had an outdoor balcony with a table for 4 plus a hammock as well as a small indoor dining table. The suite was immaculate and the location was quiet. Xanadu has a total of 17 rooms/suites. If you like a personalized, quiet resort with a heated (!) pool, jacuzzi, and beachfront access, this is your place. The pool is surrounded by a wood (not concrete) deck and palm trees. If you want nightlife, a buzzy bar scene, and midnight parties at the jacuzzi, best to go elsewhere. The staff enforces the evening quiet (we heard about a group of guests who got loud one evening after midnight and were politely but firmly asked to be quiet.). Xanadu also maintains a strict guest policy. Only registered guests are allowed on site. (We observed a really loud, rude woman giving the front desk a hard time over this policy one afternoon; happily, they politely but firmly stuck to the policy. ) There is a small outside bar near the pool; thanks to Winston for good drinks and conversation! We bought breakfasts at The Bakers cafe 2 blocks away and went into town by golf cart for dinner every night (we could have walked too). We are glad we stayed at Xanadu, which is on the southern end of San Pedro, rather than in the heart of town, since we prefer quiet. Jesica, Christian and Joel at the Front Desk were incredibly helpful in arranging dinner reservations and excursions. Our daughter went on 3 dives that Jesica arranged for her. She was picked up by boat at the end of Xanadu’s private dock for all of them. We also went on a snorkeling trip to Hol Chan Marine Reserve and a sunset catamaran sail that the Front Desk arranged. All of our excursions were lovely! We ate really well too. Many thanks to Peter, the owner, for running an impeccable resort and sharing your knowledge of the Caye with us. We hated to leave. What an incredible stay!!…
Great location. Top facilities, including full functioning Kitchen. Staff were first rate, great at orgainising the tour we went on and booking the golf cart, couldn't have asked for more. Resident iguanas in the lovely grounds.
