My wife and I traveled to Belize for the first time to attend a close friend's wedding at El Pescador. Wow! What a great experience! The lodging accommodations were very comfortable, the food was terrific, service staff was always friendly and the bar/bar staff were great!

I never write reviews, but this place was so spectacular I felt I owed it to the staff and to fellow travelers to write one. The resort is best styled as a luxury lodge. It primarily caters to fishing enthusiasts. However, expert and novice anglers are well served. There are daily one on one fly casting lessons. The guides worked hard...

The staff and owner of El Pescador really saved my trip. Because of a flight mishap I missed Day 1 of a 3-day trip. I was able to extend my trip and El Pescador helped me out with a free night and discounted extra night. I caught more fish on my extra day than the rest of the trip combined....

My wife and I just got back from a great trip to El Pescadore. We were there as part of an Orvis Baton Rouge entourage. Grounds were immaculate and food was excellent. Staff was very attentive and aimed to take care of any concerns. We fished three exciting days targeting bonefish and tarpon. Afternoons were spent poolside with a great...

El Pescador for is a fantastic resort. All inclusive with great fresh food, so good that we didn't lose weight on vacation. The staff is extremely warm and friendly and do their best to make everyone feel at home. Everything is easy there. Super fishing guides, lunch served on the boat, water and limeade-great for staying hydrated. Incredible fishing in...

Ken and Ann manage a great staff. Service excellence is everyone's priority. If Mariano doesn't make you smile your not human. We both caught a grand slam on the first day with Junior. On day 3 we took a canoe out on our own and caught 6 bonefish. If you like great fishing and great service this is the place...

Our stay at El Pescador was excellent. If you're a serious fisherman this is your spot. They take the craft very seriously and are well prepared to help you succeed. We also took a diving excursion and they arranged it all with a great dive operator. The rooms were very clean, well air conditioned and very comfortable. (we stayed in...

We just got home from a week stay at El Pescador Resort. We can't say enough about this wonderful place. My husband enjoyed 3 days work of fly fishing and my daughter 1, both were successful in catching bonefish! I enjoyed walking the beaches, laying by the pool and going into town. The service was excellent, the food was delicious...

My wife and I recently came back from El Pescador, and had an absolute amazing time there. The owners, the staff, the food, the bar and the amazing service. They say you come as a guest and you leave as family. That is a true statement! Anything you want to do while you are there they will make all the...

We found El Pescador as a result of wanting to go to Belize and looking at resorts on Trip Advisor that met some basic criteria. We took a harder look at their website and concluded that while the emphasis was clearly on fly-fishing, there also seemed to be plenty of other things to do. We were right on both counts,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
El Pescador’s beachfront lodge and villas are situated on over 45 private acres with ambiance, specializing in fishing, diving and eco-adventures. We are family-owned and operated with emphasis on creating camaraderie and an authentic Belizean experience. El Pescador is proud of our philosophy to protect and nurture friendship, adventure and the environment. El Pescador has long been known as a world-class fishing destination offering outstanding flats fishing for bonefish, tarpon and permit. El Pescador has been the only resort on Ambergris Caye specializing in saltwater flats fishing since 1974. Since coming under new ownership in 1997, the resort has established itself as an eco-friendly tropical getaway, including a commitment to offset all carbon emissions generated by its guests flying to Belize. Donations are made on behalf of guests to a local Belizean non-profit organization, Green Reef Environmental Educational and Coastal Research Institute, to offset the carbon emissions used to travel to Belize. El Pescador was also among the key organizations to implement the new Law protecting bonefish, tarpon and permit as catch and release species. This is the most all encompassing legislation of its kind worldwide. It is great news for Belizeans, anglers, tourists and conservationists alike. El Pescador is a serene and gracious establishment on the doorstep of the world’s largest living Barrier Reef. El Pescador offers accommodations in guest rooms within its colonial style, mahogany main lodge, as well as in 1, 2, and 3 bedroom luxury beachfront villas. The villas are perfect accommodations for couples seeking romance and privacy, and for families and small groups traveling together. All rooms and villas are beachfront and have unobstructed views of the Caribbean blue waters. In addition to unequaled fishing, this first-rate resort offers all the eco-adventures which take full advantage of Belize’s exotic flora and fauna. Scuba diving, snorkeling, manatee watching, cave-tubing and zip-lining, and Maya archaeological explorations are just a small assortment of the activities available while staying at El Pescador. ... more   less
