From the minute you step foot on the island, you are waited on hand and foot. Cool, refreshing towels and an Espanto Wave from your housemen accompany you to your villa. We stayed in Casa Brisa for our 10th anniversary and could not have been happier. Carlos and Dorian were always on hand anytime we needed anything. Erika and Rosita were so helpful arranging the helicopter (if you can, DO IT) to the island and our activities. We did the resort scuba dive with Pablo as our instructor and Geronimo (the best!) taking us to the reef. I felt safe and comfortable and really enjoyed my first dive. The next day Geronimo and Carlos took us out snorkeling, fishing, and prepared a private beach lunch for us in a secluded spot. The wine was cold and the fish was so fresh! We really enjoyed spending time with both of them. Before each meal you are presented with 3 menu options based on your pre-trip survey and we were blown away by everything! Fresh fruit and juice before your breakfast selection. Dinner was four courses and by the last night, we only ordered two - it was simply too much food and we are active, hungry people. Carlos and Dorian set up beautiful tables in different spots each evening with elaborate sand sculptures! As for the insect situation, I brought lemon eucalyptus oil and sprayed it on liberally every day and only had a few mosquito bites. Your villa is open during the day but with the breeze it never felt warm (I was concerned) and at night, the AC worked very well. I wouldn't recommend CE for families with small kids, there is nothing for them to do and it would disturb the other guests. This resort is a haven for couples. Overall - an absolutely delightful anniversary trip that exceeded all expectations. We look forward to another trip as soon as we can!

As we sailed along the crystal clear waters of Belize, the warm bath-temperature water splashing on my wife and me we asked our Housemen if any celebrities stayed on the island just making conversation. His response was charming, stating he was with two right now. My wife and I aren't famous, but the staff of Cayo Espanto certainly treated us like we were. Every interaction we had with the island personnel was an exercise in sublime customer service. From the moment we arrived at the airport and cleared customs the island staff took care of everything, walking us through the process, greeting us at the dock, and preparing a snack for us prior to our arrival. Jesus and Kevin were our housemen and they were both delightful, kind, and outgoing. When explaining the non-motorized water equipment they had for the island, I was interested in the Hobie Cat, but I did not know how to sail. Jesus took us out sailing one day and showed me how to do it. It was a memory to last a lifetime. Anything we needed or wanted Jesus and Kevin were a call away, and we were their number one priority throughout the whole stay. It felt like there was nothing more important to them than our call. It certainly takes a special kind of person to render the kind of service they do. The villa we stayed in was Casa Solana, and it was gorgeous. It was also likely one of the most private on the island (in my opinion). With a fully-booked resort, I think we caught a glance of guests on three occasions throughout the entirety of our week-long stay. This is an impressive feat for an island that takes me two and a half minutes to walk from end to end at a saunter. Casa Solana boasts a beautiful infinity pool which is best for relaxing in, and it also has a large wrap-around deck with a hammock and lounge chairs. The bed in Casa Solana is extremely comfortable. I did not have any trouble sleeping throughout my stay even with a bad sunburn on evenings three and four.

We decided last minute to take a trip to Belize. Found Cayo Espanto online and the booking process was easy. Getting there is a bit more tricky (via small plane and short boat ride or straight with helicopter $$$). We had an amazing time on the private Island. What a beautiful place, filled with beautiful people. The weather wasn’t the greatest over our 4 day stay, but this trip will go down as one of the best in our travel history. Having most of their team members welcome us right at our villa the moment we arrived was the first great touch out of many. A special thanks to Erika and Rosita for helping us getting everything organized, well done. Lady (cleaning) did a great job, we didn’t even realize she was there most of the time. Very discreet and detailed. A big thank you also to Chef Richard and his staff in the kitchen, the food was amazing, and they always accommodated our wishes. Getting a fried fish prepared on our last evening with only short notice goes to show how the guys go the extra mile for their visitors. Jesus and Flavio, our house butlers, did an amazing job, were always available. We couldn’t wait to call them at 7.15 to get the day started and we made sure they didn’t get bored throughout the day 😊 No matter what we wanted, they had it figured out, a big thank you for being our “friends” during our stay. Both Villas I(since we booked last minute we had to switch from one to the other) are in exceptional condition and the views from each of them are out of this world. No question, we will go back soon

Mid November 2021: There is so many superlatives I feel inept to put it down on paper. I’ll just hit the high points. STAFF: Obed and Paul were our housemen. Very informative, playful, and very professional. In our 6-night stay dinner had different décor themes that varied locations in our villa …the work they do is full of pride and it shows. …BTW Each houseman is assigned a villa. Obed has been with his villa 21 years and Paul 2.5 years. These guys really made our stay at Cayo Espanto one our most memorable vacations. Rosita is the resident manager. She has been there when it all started. She comes by your villa daily to check in with guest, making arrangements answer questions and much more. Who, what, when and where and how much Rosita has it covered. Chef Richard: Each guest is asked to fill out information for food preferences and dislikes prior to arrival. Chef Richard is very talented, creative with reliance on fresh local produce and fresh seafood. I had seafood at once a day. Best snapper and shrimp I have ever had. HB with homemade potato chips. Prime beef was excellent. Special diet? No problem. Richard was kind enough to print our daily menus. 17 meals for 6 nights. The Villa: Photos and comments sum it up well. Mosquito net over the bed was fun. Central 2 AC units are more than adequate. Belizean coffee made in room is very good. Beverages in room. Just ask for anything sodas, Liquor is top shelf. Belkin beer is very good. Towels and linens were very high quality. T.V. did not turn it on, but demo showed it to be on a couple of streaming services, live and ROKU. Internet was OK. Music was easy to cast by a phone or tablet to a Sony receiver. A well prepared information book is in the TV cabinet answers all the in’s and outs as well as things to do & see in San Pedro. External influences: Not many. Never met another guest, ‘no-see-ums’ An occasional helicopter guest drop- off or pick up. The villas are for couples. Very private, and intimate. A houseman will never drop-in. You must call your houseman with a two-way radio. They will never call you. The Housemen will always announce themselves before they come inside. Travel: Arrival: Cayo Espanto Representatives met us outside customs in Belize City Airport and escorted us to the small airline that flies to San Pedro. In San Pedro we were personally met by Cayo Espanto Representative and taken to the boat dock. The resorts representatives did everything. 7 minute boat ride and you have arrived. It was truly “all hands-on deck” at (the pier) when we arrived. Departure was in reverse. The Representatives met us at both San Pedro and Belize City Airports checked the bags, did the paperwork stayed with us thru check-in, got us a short-cut thru customs which saved a lot of time. They really paved the way. This a one-of-a-kind destination. Quiet and private. Fabulous food all served by a devoted staff. It was wonderful to be so well pampered.

I searched for the perfect place for my wife to celebrate her milestone birthday. After reading the Cayo Espanto reviews, I knew this was the perfect place. I must say that Cayo Espanto exceeded my already high expectations. Erika was super responsive and answered all of my questions prior to the trip. When we arrived in Belize, we took the boat option to the island. Obed greeted us with such a warm smile and welcome. He then proceeded to lavish us with a delicious snack and drinks. Once we arrived at Cayo Espanto we were greeted by the entire team...they made us feel at home. Highlights: VIP service: Obed and Brandon assisted us during our stay. They combed the beach, setup beautiful candlelight dinners on the dock and breakfast in our room. One night, we selected a DVD to watch, thinking we would just watch on the TV in the room. Obed offered to setup a projector with a large screen in our room so we can have our own movie night experience...it was absolutely incredible! For my wife's birthday, I wanted to make it special. Erika, Obed, and Brandon said...don't worry, we'll make it special (and wow...did they!!!). I provided balloons and streamers and they blew them up and decorated the entire room perfectly! My wife was shocked when she returned to the room (from a kayak ride) to see the elaborate setup. To our surprise, Obed and Brandon spent hours creating decorative art in the sand and they setup a private birthday dinner on the beach (complete with special balloons, candelight, and a bonfire with s'mores...yum, yum!). :) My wife was over the moon with joy. I was so thankful for everything that Obed, Brandon, and Erika did to make my wife's milestone birthday so special. Other quick highlights: the food was incredible (shout out to the chef), our bed was super comfortable, and we loved the plunge pool. No lowlights...just a heads-up. Recommend bringing mosquito repellant and sunblock if you need it. Even if you forget (like I did), then Obed was kind enough to order some and have it delivered during our stay. If you're looking for a place to totally unplug, reflect, and be pampered beyond imagination then this is your place! Thank you Erika, Obed, Brandon, and the Cayo Espanto family for making my wife's birthday so memorable! You're the best!!!!!

Absolute perfection!! Our family of four topped off our two week Belize holiday with 4 nights at Cayo Espanto. Traveling with a 9 & 13 yr old I was a bit concerned this would not be the right resort for us—boy was I wrong!! From the moment we were met at the airport, greeted by the staff on our dock, welcomed to our perfect two bedroom villa I knew this was going to be a magical stay! Our two house men, Eddie and Brandon welcomed us with open arms and took care of any whim we had—strawberry banana smoothies? Check! Board games? Check! Adult beverages? Check! Shrimp cocktail just because? Check! Special birthday celebration-including live music, sand sculpture, a special birthday cake? Check! The team at Cayo treats you like royalty! Every meal was 5 star! Every activity-5 star! The beds-like sleeping on a cloud! Casa Auroa was perfect-small private beach, large plunge pool, multiple decks, hammock, large living spaces indoors and out—views of endless sea for miles! The water trampoline right outside our villa was perfectly placed (and I am sure on purpose!) We truly are grateful that we got to spend 5 magical days at Cayo-my kids both agree that this was the best resort that we stayed at—and we stayed at two amazing resorts prior so the bar was set high! We hope to have the privilege to return again!

We were finally able to start traveling again. We were a bit hesitant, but we decided to book a very last minute trip to Cayo Espanto in Belize. Since we have been to Cayo two times in the past, we were comfortable traveling there again since we knew what to expect. Cayo is super isolated and private so it made a great Covid destination. Belize allows visitors that have proof of a Covid vaccination to arrive without a prior PCR test, otherwise you need to present a negative test on arrival. We arrived in Belize city around noon and were quickly met by Emilio who expedited us through immigration and guided us to our Helicopter. Emilio stated that Belize was on lock down from late March through October due to Covid and everyone was glad to see things picking up, albeit slowly. Our flight, which usually arrives with ~180 people, showed up with only 68! We walked out on the tarmac, grabbed a quick photo, and jumped in the helicopter for our 25 minute flight over the reef finally arriving at Cayo’s landing pad. As always we were greeted by all the staff, handed a Espanto Wave (their signature drink) and shown to our room. We normally stay in Casa Solana, but due to the last minute booking chose Casa Brisa.  We were provided with a welcome lunch, which was perfect since the airlines have restricted meal service. Fish and Chips as well as Steak quesadillas awaited us as we arrived to Casa Brisa.  After our lunch, it was time to relax and enjoy paradise. Casa Brisa is a larger single bedroom villa. The bathroom has a large shower, and there is also a small closet for luggage. It has a wet bar area with sink, refrigerator, and coffee maker. It also has a long dock with chaise lounges at the end. While the various seating options and constant cool breeze were appreciated, we would chose Casa Solana for our next visit. We prefer the view and location, even though the unit is the smallest and has a much smaller bathroom area.  The food at Cayo Espanto has always been some of the best meals we have experienced. There are few places we have been that have been better. It’s nice to see Chef Richard and Chef Patrick are still there. However, this trip we both felt that the food was even better than before. While the meals are similar each trip, there is always a variation on the menu that keeps things interesting. We are happy that each time we go we have new food to look forward to. That said, we are very happy to see some of the usual items presented as they are fantastic! For example, the beignets and the Apple crumble desserts are to die for! Our 12th anniversary dinner was a special night. The housemen, Carlos and Ronnie, created a stunning dinner setup in the inner part of the island. We noticed them working for 2+ hours and didn’t really know what they were up to. We were not sure if it was standard island cleanup or not. It was not! We were escorted to dinner as always, but this time we walked the sandy path with flowers and hearts carved in. We arrived to a message in the sand outlined with rose petals wishing us a happy 12th anniversary. Dinner was amazing as always.  We saw some bird life while on the small island. Many Pelicans, Cormorants, Yellow Warblers, and a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron. We even saw a Roseate Spoonbill fly by but I was not able to get a picture of that. Our last night’s dinner was also very impressive. We were walked to the other side of the island near the heli pad. We were sat next to a hole dug out for a fire pit and caught the end of the sunset while we ate.  Prior to our last day, Cayo arranged for a doctor to come to the island and administer a Covid antigen test so that we could re-enter the US. It was really quick and easy and thankfully we both passed! Leaving is always tough, but we enjoyed our time and look forward to our future visits. We jumped in the helicopter once again and off we went with the staff waving to us goodbye. Emilio met us again when we landed and hurried us through security and got us checked in.  See you soon Cayo.

I am hesitant to say too much about the specifics as I don't want to share. :) However, we are booked up for the next two years so I feel confident. We stayed in one of the smaller villas and had Jesus and Flavio take care of us. Granted, although this is a luxury resort, you are on an island and things are subject to weathering. You should be able to get around well as there are no special accommodations for physical challenges. Please don't quote me on that. I could be wrong. The chefs are marvelous and your meals are customized. There are certain things they don't have access to but your can bring particulars with you in your checked luggage. There is not a lot to do on the island and you will not see other people very often so you have to like the company your bring. There is a lot to do off the island, however. The day at sea is unbelievable. Geronimo and Max took us out to catch our lunch and cook it for us on a private beach. I can't say enough about this experience. Tubing is incredible and high energy. There are a couple of options for this adventure. They offer spa services which are good and a very small gym, which is adequate. We got plenty of exercise fishing, swimming, the plunge pool, and using the gym. You have the option of arriving and departing by boat or helicopter. The helicopter is fast and fun. There are two boat types available for excursions. If you prefer a bigger boat, they have it. Laying around is the best. It is private enough to sunbathe in privacy. The housemen announce any unscheduled visits and leave if you don't answer. You communicate by walkie/talkies. I got an ear infection on day one and medicine was secured. They packed us a farewell lunch due to limited food in the airport. I love this place and I hope you do, too!

Cayo Espanto Day 1: Arrival Take the helicopter! We arrived at the island via helicopter on the helipad and were greeted by the staff like royalty. They gave us fresh cool towels to freshen up, handed us Pina Coladas and told us they would get our luggage to the villa. We walked to the villa and were greeted with a sand mural "Welcome to Casa Solana". After a brief tour of the villa we were introduced to our Houseman, assistant Houseman and Chef. Guacamole and chips were waiting for us on the deck overlooking the carribean sea. We had a delicious four course meal and after a long day of travel we turned in early. While we feasted on our lobster and blackened sea bass entrees the staff prepared the villa with a refresh of towels, turned down the bed, stocked the fridge, set the temperature on the ac to 68 (just what we requested) and went over the itinerary for the next day. Day 2: First full day I will start by saying we are here with a two year old and we woke up at 9am. That is how comfortable we ALL were all night long during our sleep. The bed was SO comfortable with an abundance of soft pillows that we didn't want to get up. We did get up, grabbed the walkie-talkie and pressed the alert button. Our Houseman Jesus answered back, "good morning Mr. Smith, are you ready for coffee?" A few minutes later our deck was set with white linen, coffee, raw sugar, fruit plate, assorted pastries, fresh preserves and fresh squeezed orange juice. BUT, this was not breakfast! This was just the good morning snack. We were presented with the breakfast menu and ordered a variety of items. The yogurt and granola was made fresh, everything is made fresh! We discovered that the downside to the food is we caught ourselves saying "I want that again tomorrow," but realizing we want to see what else we are surprised with. While eating breakfast our villa was "opened up." This includes opening all the walls to have the fresh air blow through, restocking the fridge, towels, making the bed, taking out the trash, opening the umbrellas, hanging the hammock, arranging the lounge chairs and placing towels in them. We spent the day doing nothing. This was our plan. Relax, relax, relax and that's what we did. We enjoyed the pool, played on the sand, lounged in the hammock, and got sunburned. It was an enjoyable day. We had a wonderful large lunch served poolside, and for our snack we had a tea party on the beach. Yes, a tea party. Complete with assorted teas, cucumber and tomato sandwiches and cookies. The chef visited us at the villa around 3pm and handed us the daily "suggested" menu and said "you can read it if you're visual or I can tell you what it says." We opted to have him give us the culinary rundown and he ended with "or if none of that sounds good to you, I can prepare something else." It was funny how he said it knowing that the menu sounded delicious. We made our selections (left it as chef's choice) and set the time for dinner and continued on with the day. At our selected time, the Housemen arrived at the villa and asked if we were ready for dinner. "Ok" our daughter exclaimed and he said "please follow me." We were led down a candle lit walkway about 50 feet from our villa where a table surrounded with torches was perfectly set in the palm trees. Multiple sand drawings of flowers and hearts were along the path and a life sized sand sculpture of a dolphin was beside our table. We had our four course dinner that again was amazing and then retired for the night back at our villa with a carafe of coffee to enjoy as we gazed at the stars. Day 3: This was a repeat of day two, wonderful breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner on the beach at sunset. Rosita the manager comes to the villa every morning to check and make sure things are going well and we discussed activities. We ended up booking spa services for day 4. I've already described it, but I'll say that the service is superb. At one point in the day the Housemen brought a snack of guacamole, chips and Pina Coladas. They set it up at the pool as we swam. I decided to lay in the hammock and after I rolled in he appeared with a pillow and tucked it under my head. This brought laying in a hammock to an all new Ieval. I enjoyed a nap after that! Day 4: We were wakened in the night with the sound of rain on the tin roof. It was soothing and relaxing in itself. We had pre-set our wake up time and "breakfast snack" for 8am. The Housemen arrived on time in the rain and set the table with accompaniments in the villa. They opened the louvers around the villa just enough to feel the cool breeze, smell the sweet smell of rejuvenation and keep out the rain. It rained most of the day and we enjoyed singing, dancing and playing in the rain. The Housemen spent the day as usual in addition to moving the furniture around the deck, opening and closing and opening and closing the umbrellas based on the wind and rain conditions. It was a gloomy day weather wise, but we are in paradise so it really didn't matter. Esmerelda arrived and provided our spa services. I had a coffee scrub with chocolate wrap followed with a 90 minute massage. It was great! We regularly receive spa services at home and when we travel. The service here was in line with other 5 star spas and the prices were well below what is typically charged. All of our meals were exceptional and we discussed at dinner that the meals have been so fulfilling we haven't been able to enjoy the snack menu. Jesus (the houseman) said we needed to try something on the menu so we ended the day with fresh baked peanut butter cookies and milk. Day 4: Snorkeling was on the agenda but it was windy and had overcast skies so we decided not to go. We did not expect it, but were offered additional spa services since we opted not to snorkel. The citrus scrub was chosen and again was wonderful, relaxing and did just as described. Another full day of outstanding service and treats. Jesus had suggested we give the housekeeper all our dirty laundry and they would clean, fold and return the same day. We did and they were. Clean, soft and folded. Next time we'll pack lighter and just wear clothes after they're washed. We were met with another wonderful surprise at dinner. The Housemen came and got us just before sunset and took us to an area just near the helipad that had been prepared with torches and sand art and a sand sculpture that was very thoughtful and beautiful. In conversation I had mentioned that our 16th anniversary was the following week. The sculpture was a heart with a rose and the number 16. Around the sculpture was "Happy Anniversary." To end the dinner the chef had prepared and decorated a cake for us. It was all wonderful and the detail and service was beyond expected. Day 5: departure day At dinner the night before our Houseman let us know that we would be leaving the island 2 hours before our flight was to leave and that the helicopter would be arriving at 12:10pm to pick us up. Our flight was to depart at 2:35pm. The day started as usual with breakfast and the Housemen tending to us and the villa and getting the pool towels ready as well as raking the sand at the beach. 10am the resident manager Erica arrived to make sure we were happy and picked up the guest survey and book the Housemen had left earlier. She let us know return guests receive a discount and that the Chef was preparing a picnic "togo" lunch for us. Our ride arrived as scheduled and the Housemen came to make sure we were all packed and ready. They took our bags and loaded everything onto the helicopter. As we walked from our villa the staff was lined up along the path with departing goodbyes and the Chef handed us a lunch box filled with sandwiches, cookies, apples and bottled water. We said our thank yous, took a few last photos and loaded onto the chopper. We landed at the airport in about 15 minutes and were met by the island host that grabbed our bags and led us to the customs gate for our final departure from Belize. Overview: We travel often. Several times a year and we look for the best destinations. We have been to several of the “top 100 hotels in the world” and this place is currently listed at the top. The seclusion, accommodations, food and service were all 5 stars. We are already planning another trip back to Cayo Espanto in the VERY near future.

If you want a vacation where you’re completely pampered with high-level service and exquisite food, surrounded by stunning beauty, with social distancing naturally built in, Cayo Espanto should be high on your list to consider. Built on a tiny private island a short ferry ride off Ambergris Caye, each of the private cabanas comes with 2 house men that attend to you morning, noon, and night, with a high level of professionalism and warmth . They leave you alone to enjoy your spectacular cabana until you want something, at which point you use the walkie-talkie for your request and they jump in to action. In the morning they’ll bring you coffee or tea and fruit (there’s also an in-room coffee maker they’ll set up each evening so you just push a button for your first caffeine hit when you awake, if you wish). While delivering your morning beverage, they’ll take your breakfast order from an extensive menu provided in-room. If there’s something you want that you don’t see, just ask as they’ll do whatever they can to meet your requests. Mid-morning they’ll present you with a lunch menu that includes three entree options for the day, along with a dessert, tailored to you based on the food preferences online form you fill out before your arrival. Mid-afternoon, you’ll be visited by one of the chefs with another tailored menu for dinner, with 3 entree options for you to choose from, coupled with a soup or bisque, an appetizer, and a dessert. The food for all meals was all around delicious, healthy, and beautifully presented. Soups were always delicious, ranging from tortilla soup, black bean bisque, shrimp bisque, tomato basil, and lime bisque. Appetizers continually wowed, and the entrees were delicious. If you want something different than what they present on the menu, just ask. They’ll go out of their way to meet your culinary desires. All meals are served at the cabana, and the location always changed depending on our mood and the weather. Some meals were served poolside, some down on our private beach, and a couple inside our cabana when the weather wasn’t conducive. We stayed at Casa Solana, and while I’m hesitant to sing its praises too much, it’s only because I don’t want this particular casa to become so popular that it’s difficult to book in the future. It sits on the west end of the island, and has beach and ocean on two full sides, completely private, with fantastic views of the sunset each night. I’m sure all of the cabanas are equally lovely, but we adored this one so much that we can’t imagine staying at any of the others. The infinity plunge pool was good size looking over the water, and there are two very large umbrellas that create lots of shade, especially important when dining or when using the hammock that gently rocks in the breeze. As others have mentioned, the water depth isn’t deep enough for swimming at the shoreline, but they do have a floating deck easily accessed by a few minute kayak ride out that offers deeper water for swimming. There’s a mini-fridge that was stocked with beers, water, and sodas based on our preferences, and we loved showering with the metal shutters opened up so we were looking out at the ocean while getting clean. The bed had a mosquito net that we used once or twice, but found we didn’t really need it. Service was impeccable. Our two house men, Jesus and Brandon, continually wowed us throughout our week. One day we asked if they had a chocolate bar to satisfy a craving; a few minutes later they came by with some chocolate, but the next day, there was an entire basket of chocolates for us to snack on. When we arrived we mentioned we had heard about s’mores as a dessert option, and on our last night they made a beautiful bonfire for us and provided all the necessities to make our own s’mores. Another night we mentioned that we were going to sit outside after dinner and look up at all the stars, and when we walked over to the lounge chairs to do so, we found that they had pushed the lounges together, and added a blanket and pillows so that we could cuddle as we gazed up at the beautiful Milky Way. And we also let them know that we were celebrating our 25th anniversary and they brought us a beautiful and delicious cake, and helped us light and launch sky lanterns in celebration. After requesting warm milk for our coffee our first morning, it was automatically brought to us for the rest of our stay. They went out of their way to make each meal special, drawing patterns in to the sand outside our casa, adding different mood lighting each night. Oh, and when we were departing the island via helicopter (I HIGHLY recommend this option – see more below), Rosita handed us a beautifully packed lunch for us to consume during our travel home. We scuba dived a couple of days, and can’t rave enough about the dive master named German, and his support staff. Their service has spoiled us for future dives, as they not only prepared our gear before dives, but took care of it afterwards, washing and storing it for us. We started referring to German as the ‘shark whisperer’ because every single dive, nurse sharks would join us and swim along with us like they were puppies. There was no chum or other behavioral tricks employed for this; they just swam with us, so closely that we easily put our hands out to pet them as they swam by. We did this over and over during our 4 dives in different locations and they seems quite happy to interact. I’ve never seen this behavior by sharks before, and it became the highlight of our diving. When returning to the resort, we would be asked if we’d like a drink when we returned, and as the boat pulled in, the housemen would greet us with our cocktail of choice at the dock, along with a warm compress to warm us after diving (conversely, they would greet us with cold compresses after kayaking). As mentioned above, we ended up taking the helicopter from Belize City to the resort, and I highly recommend this. It isn’t cheap, but landing in Belize, being met by a personal representative of the resort, who grabs your luggage and whisks you through the airport to your waiting helicopter, then taking a tour over the barrier reef and landing at the resort a short 20 minutes later is way much better and funner than taking another flight to Ambergris Caye, and then taking a water taxi to the hotel. On the way back, the same representative filled out our departing documentation for us and got us through security lickity split. This was a good decision and a great way to end our vacation.
