We have stayed in this campground three times because we are birders who love the Apopka Wildlife Trail, which is about 10 minutes away. We also enjoy Mt. Dora, a lovely small town with good restaurants and shops, about 20 minutes away. This KOA is very clean. The interior roads are paved. The pull throughs are also paved with concrete patios. There are also grass back in sites available with or without patios. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a LOT of noise from a nearby busy highway and a small airport with small planes, so sitting outside is not very peaceful. Nevertheless, this is a good location for us, and we appreciate the neatness of the campground and the ease of maneuvering in our 40 foot motor home, towing a truck.
Very disappointed in our overall experience. First the good - We were given a nice shady spot. The grounds are well kept and they come to pick up trash in the morning - the workcampers are very nice. Great location for getting around Central FL. Now - the bad. We are an RV family of 4 who has stayed in well over 50 campgrounds over the past 4 years we've been living the RV Life. We love to make new friends with campground owners and frequently review campgrounds on our Youtube channel (Grateful Glamper). The first night we arrived (about 10pm) - we drove through a pull through spot trying to find our site as it was after dark - one of the owners ran over to our RV (as we are driving) and started banging on our RV - yelling at us saying we'd driven through freshly laid asphalt. There was NOTHING to mark off this pull through site - no cones, no "tape" or anything and it was after dark - no way for us to know this pull through site could not be driven across. We noticed the next day, there were cones up. No damage was done to the asphalt. The next day, we completed our check in at the office and asked about an extended stay. We were in a transitional time of selling our home in one state and relocating to the central Florida area. We needed a place to stay for approximately 6 weeks until we closed on the purchase of our home in FL and this KOA was right down the 441 (Orange Blossom Trail) from where we will be living. We asked about getting a monthly rate and staying the the 6 weeks and were told we could not BECAUSE WE HAVE KIDS! That's right - this is a KOA that is obviously not too fond of kids. And they will not allow more than a 27 day stay if you have kids. We were told by the staff that the owners do not believe kids should live in an RV. Therefore, they do what they can to "discourage" that lifestyle. (RV life with kids - if it's more than just camping for the weekend). The very next day, the owners of the campground paid our site a visit to let us know that we had left a grease drop from our blackstone griddle on their pristine picnic table (Insert sarcasm here as I have attached a photo of said "pristine" picnic table). Also they let us know that our dog crate that we keep outside when not in use (that folds up) was on the wrong side of the fence at our site. We repeatedly during our stay saw the owners driving around on golf carts - in some cases yelling at others (not sure if they were guests or staff?) and when we even tried to be friendly and wave hello with no wave or smile back. Every time we would see a golf cart around with one of the owners, we were constantly on our guard - it put us on edge our entire stay. The sites are also very close together - (see photos). Now, I want to answer the question you might be asking as to why we chose to continue to stay there then. This RV park is the ONLY RV park in the area that is NOT super shady. There are other parks further away (one of which we are now staying in) but this means a further drive to get our kids to school, etc until we move into our home. We didn't have a choice but to move on as even after explaining our situation to the management - and offering to even provide copies of our contract to purchase our home - they wouldn't not budge from their "no children long term" policy. Also, as a side noise there is a small airport right by the campground so there is airplane noise from time to time - didn't bother us they planes seemed to fly only during the day - but something to be aware of.…
Being our maiden voyage in our new TT Hubs and I were happy campers until no staff told us about the bad water and we ended up flushing out our hot water tank thinking it was a stale water situation and worried that we just bought a lemon. While the grounds, bathrooms, pool, shuffleboard, and playground are well kept and clean the staff is pleasant; the smell of sulfur in the water caused us to cut our stay short by 2 days. The staff should have been upfront about the water not being potable as this is a health code violation (which I reported). No WIFI(included for full hookups) and no potable water should equal a discount in my favor and yet none was offered. I was refunded the 2 days left on my reservation without issue. To me, this seems to be another case of the owner/corporate not listening to or addressing the issues brought up by employees and customers.…
We camped here for 2 days over Memorial Day. This was our first time to this park. It is one of the most meticulously maintained, non resort, Park we’ve stayed. They had just completed paving the roads when we arrived. Every piece of this park is well maintained. There isn’t a weed or tall grass or broken anything in sight. The pool is a nice size and the store is nicely equipped for the camping “emergency”. The campground is bout 35 minutes from Disney. Grocery stores (Winn Dixie, Family Dollar) are just a few minutes from the campground. Navigation system will take you right to the campground.
This property not only honored the KOA appreciation weekend deal on 9/14-9/15, they also allowed us to leave early without any penalty when the evacuation order was lifted in SC so we could return home. Amazing customer service and extremely clean pool, laundry, and restrooms. We were impressed with how quiet all the campers were at the venue. Only "complaint" is the traffic nearby (site 22) and overhead airplane noise, but with AC running, we could only hear it once we were outside.
We were there recently for 8 days and were eager to leave! Although it seemed to check all the boxes for the perfect place: small community, level sites, some pull-thrus, full hook-ups, pool, laundromat, showers, propane, free Wifi, dog park and friendly staff, we did not have one good night sleep there. Indeed it is located along the very busy US 441 Hwy and a RR track! We found the continuous noise UNBEARABLE....Also we were forced to put our small trailer ‘’in storage’’ for an additional $5/day on top of the already pricey site. We found it wasn’t as close to Orlando either but Mt Dora is close by. Unfortunately I would not recommend the place if you want quiet and peaceful.
I liked everything about this RV park. It's location is good in that Mount Dora is easily available, and the Disney area attractions are within a short drive. The sites are spaced and aligned so that you do not feel crowded. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There are quite a number of cable TV channels, and the Wi-Fi is pretty good (for a RV park). The only thing missing is adequate access to areas to exercise (walk, jog, or bicycle). The KOA is located along a busy US 441 Hwy, and there is only commercial property adjoining the RV park. Thus no neighborhoods, or etc., in which to walk, jog or bicycle. I will definitely stay here again when we visit the Mount Dora area.
This is the very first KOA that I ever stayed in. I have returned every year since my first, in 2012, except for 2016. I had a reservation, but Hurricane Mathew cancelled that. Very nice owners and staff. They have improved this KOA and continue to do more. I highly recommend this KOA and I will continue to stay here on my future visits to the area!!!
Here is an easy to find and access campground. It's well kept and offers pull through and back in sites with lots of space. There is a pool for the kids. The bathhouse was a disappointment. The building is kept clean but outdated. The stalls are narrow and there are no ADA handicap facilities. They should build a new bathhouse.
We arrived late to the campground and they had all of our instructions waiting for us. All we had to do was go hook up and relax. They have a cute little store and a recreation room and a cool pool. The showers and restrooms were so so clean. I would advise everyone to stay here if you are in the area.
