Very efficient and pleasant place. Was able to eat well without leaving this location. All employees were helpful. Room was adequate w comfortable bed and good shower. Dinner in the bar area was good. Waiters were pleasant. First experience since covid shutdown. Glad for a nice place.
The hotel is lovely, overall, and the room was comfortable and clean, with nice amenities. However, we noticed that the toilet flushed very slowly. I called the front desk and was told they would create a ticket for maintenance to address the issue, but since maintenance leaves at 3 pm, no one would look at it till the next day. We were only there for one night (May 5-6), which meant no one would be addressing this while we were there. The front desk said I could stop by to pick up a plunger, which I did. We spent a good deal of time using the cheap plunger to no effect. The end result was that we could not use the toilet for our stay there. This was most uncomfortable. When I checked out there was someone different at the front desk. I told her what happened and she apologized. She told me she could not refund me as I had paid for the room through a third party, but encouraged me to petition Hotels.com for a refund, saying she would back me up. I contacted Hotels.com on May 14 and the rep called the hotel to verify my claim. He explained that the hotel said they had not taken any notes on my complaint and they refused to support my getting a refund. The hotel boasts "New England charm," but fell really short. I would not have left a review at all if they had made good on supporting a refund -- but I spent a terrible night and then they failed to live up to their promise to make it right. I recommend steering clear of this untrustworthy establishment.…
We were fooled by the nice photos on their website. This is by far one of the worst places we have ever stayed! The old worn out spring bed will make your backs begging for a break! The noisy heating can put a jet plane to shame! The paper thin walls kept us up until past midnight carrying neighbors conversations! There is no blackout drapes, the room was flooded with the street lights from the parking area through the white sheer curtains! Top it all with a very rude front desk!! This is like a cheap highway motel at the price of a resort!!
The room was clean and comfortable. The king size bed was fantastic. I slept better than on my own bed! We ate breakfast on the morning before leaving and it was quite good. We didn't wait for brunch to begin but they had a huge selection of food out. The staff was professional and friendly.
My husband and I stayed here the first weekend in December. Everything we experienced was top notch. The entire hotel and our room were both spotlessly clean, the mattress was extremely comfortable, and the staff was wonderful. I would like to commend Chris, in particular, for taking so much time to make sure we had the perfect room (which we did)! Our room had every amenity you could ask for. It was cold outside, but our rooms were very warm and we could adjust the temperature in any way we wanted. We dined at the Seasons Restaurant both nights and the food was delicious and our waiter, Jeff, was so friendly and accommodating (since I am gluten-free). The continental breakfast is included and consisted of bagels, danish, cereal (including gluten-free), fresh fruit, yogurt, assorted juice and coffee. Both lobby areas were beautifully decorated for the holidays which made it both cozy and elegant. We would definitely recommend this hotel and give it a 5 Star review in every category. We plan to stay here again in we are in this area. This place is a gem!…
I spent Thanksgiving at Avon Old Farms. The hotel was fine. The rooms are big. Decent standard for the cost. However, not one hotel employee was masked. Very few guests were masked. There was no request of masking. Guests were sprawled out partying in public areas without a care in the world. It was the height of irresponsible behavior given that we are in a global pandemic. I was visiting elderly relatives and it was nerve wracking being exposed to so many people who were so inconsiderate toward others. Never again.
Room is nice, with great sheets and mattress. BUT: key didn’t work, so had to call Housekeeping every time to get in. Curtains only cover half the window, so room is illuminated by parking lot lights all night; room was FREEZING, to had to turn on LOUD fan heater, probably from the 1970’s, and “restaurant” was actually barren bar with no sound insulation and bad food. I knew the owners of this place in the 1970’s and was really looking forward to staying here during a family emergency that brought me back this week. WHAT a disappointment.
We stayed in the older, original part of this hotel. The rooms were nicely adorned and quaint to look at but lacked the modern conveniences you would expect at this price point. Old box spring mattresses, window air unit with gap that let bugs in, waiting for hot water in shower and then not able to regulate between scalding and freezing water, cable television that was intermittent at best. The photos we based our decision on were in the new build portion. These were very expensive and not at all worth the money. Just glad it was only one night.
We stayed at the amazing Avon Old Farms Hotel in Avon, Connecticut from August 13, 2021 to August 15, 2021. We were warmly greeted by everyone working at the front desk. The front desk staff included Janice, Robin, Olivia, and Kris. The staff at the front desk were very friendly, very helpful, and offered great suggestions for sites to visit in the area. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. The pool was relaxing. The staff at the pool continually cleaned and maintained the pool. The staff at the pool included Scott, Zani, and Chris. The food served in the restaurants and ballroom was fantastic. Parking spaces at the hotel were near our room and there was plenty of parking. The housekeeping staff did a great job. We look forward to returning to this wonderful property in the future. Regards, Ron and Nancy Semanick…
From the rude front desk staff to the ludicrous $15 daily "faciities fee" for nonexistent facilities, this is hands down one of the worst hotels I've stayed at in a long time. The outdated notion of 'elegance' is tattered. The rooms are faded, the beds sag. The electrical outlets are so worn they cannot hold a plug for a phone charger. The wifi is nonfunctional. YOU CANNOT WORK FROM THIS HOTEL. We made the mistake of staying here for three nights expecting to get some work done while visiting family and could not get on the wifi, which cut out constantly. The "facility fee" covers...what? facilities? a crappy outdoor pool? This place will be wiped out when chain hotels invade and will deserve to be put out of business.
