After a day of wine tasting at the family owned wineries in Northern California’s Shenandoah Valley, step back in time to the Gold Rush era with an overnight stay at the Imperial Hotel in Amador City. Originally built in 1879, the hotel has six spacious rooms on the second floor, each one decorated with antique furniture and vintage inspired bedding....

We wanted to write this review 5 months ago because we had a very good experience at the B & B in December. It is definitely a place we will return to for our December escape for 4 days. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfasts were very good and served in the attractive hotel dining room. The owner and...

We booked 3 nights here in mid May 2015 and were given the cottage to stay in, which is about 3 mins walk from the hotel. Not a problem. However, the unlit, uneven, overgrown path is, especially after a heavy downpour, and the gutter over the steps to the verandah leaks badly as well. We subsequently discovered there was a...

Wonderful find. Great location in the Sierra Foothills wine country. Very cute town of 150 people with about 12 shops that have all been freshly painted and restored. We had room 2 which opened to the front balcony where you could sip wine and watch the locals. Very relaxing and peaceful. Excellent hot breakfast is included in room price. Dinner...

Awesome Hotel in California's smallest city. Room 1 was perfect, with a door leading out to the balcony overlooking the beautiful town. Happened to be "locals night" the day we arrived, so enjoyed live music, wine and appetizers on the patio out front. Excellent staff, especially Peter, the General Manager - very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Had an...

My wife and I have been staying here about once a year for the past 10 years and have always enjoyed our stay. The hotel has six rooms, all comfortable, but rooms 1 and 2 are our favorites. They have their own access to the balcony, which is a great place to sit, share a bottle of wine, and watch...

We have stayed here before and came back because the place is so nice. We staying in the "Cottage" across the street - it was SOOOO romantic, a gas fired stove in the corner of the bedroom, canopied bed, DVD player (no cable) and a huge closet, refridgerator, Enormous bathroom with heated towel rack, big fluffy terry robes, and a...

This is a lovely old hotel with restaurant and bar. Staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Peter who seemed to do everything the night we stayed. The night we were there they had a wine tasting with pizza sticks and popcorn. Tasting was related to winemakers dinner they were having the following weekend. Met several locals who came in...

Our recent stay at the Imperial Inn was delightful. We found out at the last minute that they were having a Wine Maker's dinner and what fun! It was a 5 coarse meal with 7 wines paired (3 with the main coarse) all of which were amazing! The rooms were well cared for and comfortable. The staff very friendly and...

This charming and cozy, but not fancy, hotel is situated in the middle of California's historic gold country. It is easily accessible from Sacramento and not far from Kirkwood ski area. Near historic and natural attractions. Dinner was thoroughly excellent and breakfasts more than met our expectations and dietary needs/restrictions. Our favorite room is #4 which is on the quiet...
