The room was very roomy and comfortable, and very clean! Sometimes that is hard to achieve in a building that is well over 100 years old. Complimentary breakfast in the dining room was delicious. The bed was very comfortable. The room was cold, and I couldn't figure out how to make the heater work, but by the time I was... More

This place was worth the drive. After being seated on a Wednesday evening, we were approached by one of the musicians who asked if they were too loud for conversation. How often does that happen? We had the warm brie and roasted garlic as one appetizer, then the artisanal cheese plate as another. Delicious! The baguette and flatbread crackers were... More

Found this gold mine of a little hotel on our way from Sacramento to Yosemite. The place is steeped in the gold fever history with it's look, decor, and pictures. The rooms are clean and cozy and very well decorated. Great bar and restaurant downstairs. Loved the little reading room with small library, and of course, the balcony overlooking town.... More

It's very hard to pick out the top place to stay in the beautiful gold country. They all have charm, bucolic settings, amazing staff and we,ve stayed and enjoyed many of them. But wow, The Imperial, I'm a fan and fear that with the exception of visiting exquisite Columbia it will always be The Imperial from now on. The rooms... More

Beautiful old time hotel which takes you back in time, but is cozy and comfortable with the modern conveniences you need. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the upper balcony with a glass of wine, just watching very little going by. Friendly staff, comfortable bed, quiet and peaceful surroundings, and excellent dinner in the restaurant downstairs. Didn't need anything else.

The Mother Lode Scots has had their Robert Burns Supper here in 2015 & 2016, couldn't have asked for better service and excellent food. To top it off, the perfect ambiance for the occasion. The Mother Lode Highland Games had need of several rooms Again, the service was wonderful, everyone raved about the meals.

We stayed in the annex, garden suites. No one to check us in, but the key was next to the bar, front entrance. Room was fine. Gas stove and whirlpool bath were a nice touch. Note that Amador city is only open for business Thursday through Sunday. The only thing open was the hotel. We ate and shopped in Sutter... More

There really is hardly anything to this tiny place but Amador City is so charming. The one hotel was in the middle of refurbishment but that didn't stop them taking guests into their delightful cottage across the street. Staff were lovely and they brought our breakfast over on a tray the next day. They advised on eating out in Sutter... More

Stopped in for a dinner for two and a bottle of wine. We were blown away by how good everything was. Service was friendly. The food was abundant, fresh and very good. In the past 20 years the dining has gone up and down, but the current ownership and chef combination is a winning combination. If you haven't been in... More

We spent two nights at the Imperial Hotel as we explored the gold country and its many wineries. The hotel is authentically and tastefully furnished with period antiques and our room was charming, clean and comfortable. The Happy Hour on Wed night features free appetizers and wonderful music and it appeared that all the locals come out for a good... More
