Wow. Let me start by saying I travel a lot. I am Platinum with Marriott, Gold with Hilton and when not traveling for work stay at some of the nicer hotels the world has to offer…. And this hotel beyond exceeded my wildest expectations. From the second you arrive Dennis and Anthony (valet) had such a warm approachable personality I felt like I knew them! At the front desk that continues with Samar informing me I had been upgraded to a premium room and being so genuine in sharing her pride for her beautiful hotel. This was a friend escape (as two busy working Moms we try and get away for a night once or twice a year and catch up free of kids and husbands!) On our last “escape” we stayed at the Mandarin… this puts the Mandarin to shame on ALL categories! Hospitality, Food, Spa, Service, the rooms … ALL of it!! I have no idea how big the room is but I can tell you the premium double Queen room on the 7th floor made all the rooms (not suites) I have stayed at pale in comparison. In this tier/class of hotel everything is pricey, and the Waldorf is certainly expensive, but I can genuinely say there are some hotels in this “league” I just don’t see what I am paying for, and the 5 star rating just seems contrived… not here. Everything was top notch/first class. In the spa the front desk ladies were so wonderful … my masseuse Kim was fantastic and all the tension just melted away. This hotel is gorgeous and the architecture breathtaking but it is the people that make it truly stunning. I can’t wait to return!…
The hotel is in what was the old post office - a mighty fine historic building in the middle of D.C. A great location - a metro station just around the corner and a 5 minute walk to the national mall. The main entrance and reception is stunning. It’s like a plaza - there’s a bar and seating with a restaurant. It is so grand and a massive American flag is hung on one wall. Simply stunning. Through out the hotel the decorations are fantastic. The staff were also really great - the breakfast and bar staff amazing and the door staff. Really great people. The room was very comfortable. The king bed was heavenly. In our room we also had a desk with a chair and a big cabinet with a huge tv on it with bedside tables each. There’s a wardrobe with a safe in it and a steamer. We had a great sleep. The bathroom is stunning. Double sinks, a huge shower and the biggest bath I’ve ever seen. Their toiletries are fantastic. Hair dryer available too. With our deal we got money for breakfast included. It’s not the cheapest breakfast but it is fantastic - the pancakes and bacon with maple syrup I can’t stop thinking of and the salmon avocado stack was also delicious. We also got some room credit which we spent on cocktails in the evening - some great choices. The bar is really well presented. You can normally go up to the tower which is not run by the hotel but due to covid this was not possible. We had an absolutely super stay. I know that it is being sold and I hope that the grandness of the hotel remains.…
This hotel is phenomenal. The staff took really good care of us and the rooms are amazing. The doorman Anteneh went above and beyond on many occasions for us. Would definitely return for another stay in the future!
The hotel was beautiful and the staff were wonderful! The food and drinks at the hotel restaurant Peacock Alley were great! Markeeta at the Front Desk was great! She was very personable and professional. Anteneh at the Valet Station was great as well! All of the staff were very nice and accommodating. Highly recommend the hotel! Definitely coming back!
Great stay and experience! Very much appreciate the staff - most especially Markeeta for going out of her way to make things fantastic, easy and comfortable throughout! Will be sure to stay here again next time!
This is, by far, the nicest hotel we’ve ever stayed in. We felt pampered the entire time we were there. Very luxurious and comfortable. Room was very dark because of the heavy drapes which made for a wonderful sleeping experience. Be sure and walk around the back of the hotel and go up to the top of the clock tower! Beautiful view of DC!
Our stay here was absolutely amazing. The staff here was very pleasant and helped make sure everything was to our liking and more as we were celebrating our anniversary. Our stay was made even better by Dennis. He was extremely friendly and constantly made sure we were enjoying our stay!
This is an amazing hotel. Dennis and his team at the front are exceptional. Dennis is a professional and takes pride in his job. Stay at the DC Waldorf and meet Dennis. You won’t regret it!
We experienced exceptional service during our stay including a complimentary room upgrade, a thoughtful welcome gift from Nico, prompt turndown service and a quick and painless checkout. We will definitely choose the Waldorf Astoria DC again!
From the exquisite lobby to the incredible rooms, the over the top service to the free tour of the clock tower and history of the Old Post Office, this is close to perfect. If I am being picky, the soaps are incredible smelling but I would like some tiny bottles to take home rather than the larger pumps. But that's being really picky... Breakfast at Peacock Alley was yummy. The avocado toast was beautifully served and the egg perfectly poached. Service was a little slow but that's the way of the world these days... And staying in DC and seeing that enormous flag in the soaring lobby gives you all the feels! Great birthday getaway.
