The entrance to the hotel is so pretty, I loved all the historic details and small rooms that are available to sit in. The employees were lovely, helpful, and totally professional. I did not want for anything. I just felt anything I needed was provided with ease (for example, I needed cash and the front desk gave me cash and charged it to the room, rather than having to find an ATM). Room service was expensive. There are many restaurants and shopping close to the hotel as well as St. Matthews Catholic Church. I walked everywhere. The restaurant was great for breakfast in the morning. I enjoyed that they gave me a room with a bathtub, as requested. The view from my room was not great, so next time I would possibly upgrade to a suite or a room with a better view. I really enjoyed the private feel, the upscale atmosphere and great service. Thank you, Jefferson staff!…
For five years before covid, we stayed at this top-notch boutique hotel as tourists visiting DC, in all seasons. Then, we moved here and as residents got to enjoy it all regularly. It has always offered an outstanding level of service, class, and hospitality. As it has just re-opened, it is so wonderful to see it hasn’t lost its touch. It’s as beautiful and welcoming as ever. We’ve had breakfast in The Greenhouse and dinner in the main dining room this week. The food is still amazing. As noted in another review, everyone on staff is helpful and friendly. This is a unique and special place. Beautiful spaces; a gracious and professional staff; very comfortable, upscale hotel rooms; excellent food; and, a superb bar and wait staff. High class all around. The Jefferson is popular with both tourists and locals. The efforts of all who work there create an atmosphere a cut above and you love being part of it. They have a loyal following of professionals in the city and residents who know how great it is. For tourists, it’s well-situated for lots of activities around the city; and, the staff knows how to make your stay memorable. After a year+ of covid shutdowns, and outstanding businesses having to close, it’s so gratifying to see The Jefferson open for business again. Highly recommend it.…
Our son is a freshman at George Washington University and we have stayed at several 5 star hotels in Washington, D.C. over the last 6 months and the Jefferson has been the best by far. The hotel rooms are beautiful, impeccably clean and large. The hotel itself is gorgeous with a greenhouse inside where you can have breakfast. I sent my friend a photo from breakfast and she said it looked like we were in Europe. We also ate lunch at the hotel and the food was wonderful. Finally, the staff and service was amazing across the board. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this hotel any more highly.
Absolutely one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. The room was incredible. When we got in (with early check in at 11am no less) I was convinced we had been upgraded to a suite but no, it was the standard room. It had an amazing soaking tub, tv in the bathroom mirror, robes, amazing linens, impeccably clean, everything you could want. The service was some of the best service we’ve ever gotten at a hotel. Everyone we encountered was fantastic. We mentioned we were there for a baby moon and they left us complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and a sweet note. Check in and out was a breeze the valet was so attentive. Everyone we encountered was perfect. A lot of our post Covid travel has been pretty rough in terms of service but The Jefferson hit it out of the park. The hotel itself is so special. We read in the reading room next to the fire and got drinks at the cocktail lounge and even got to drink them in one of the private rooms. Breakfast at The Greenhouse was perfect. I honestly can’t imagine staying anywhere else in DC. Thank you so much for an incredible stay.…
What can you say about the Jefferson? I've stayed there dozens of times over thirty years. I've sat in the bar till the wee hours of the morning with famous explorers and smoked cigars on the patio. I've had breakfast with owners of franchises and CEOs of NGOs and met and constructed books there. Rooms are great, ambiance is better, and you never know who you'll meet. Nuff said.
One of the finest hotels for accommodation, service and elegance. This was our third stay at the Jefferson not including a beautiful wedding we hosted for our daughter and son in law. If it was possible to give 5 stars we would Dr. and Mrs. Louis F DeSantis
I have stayed at the Jefferson 3 times and always return when I need to stay in D.C. for an extended stay. The staff are so courteous and attentive, the rooms are beautiful, the beds so comfortable, and I soaked every day in a large soaking tub with a cup of tea. Also be sure to get a drink at the Quill, their luxurious, classic pub.
Everything about The Jefferson is perfection. It is intimate, beautifully appointed with the warmest staff from the minute you approach the front doors to every point of contact during a stay. We find it a home away from home as we visit Washington DC fairly frequently. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
Outstanding hotel, staff, and amenities. We had a wonderful stay there in early December. From check-in to check-out, our stay was flawless. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, and the beds are divine (I queried about the pillows and ordered some for myself) Having fresh water and chocolate by the bedside each night was such a nice touch! The Greenhouse was a delight for breakfast and service was impeccable. The staff at the door were very helpful with tips on where to go and how to get there as well as getting us taxis. We loved the cozy bar for a nightcap each night. We will be returning!
Exquisite, formal, regal & the perfect getaway with a historic feel while providing updated clean amenities that can be enjoyed around the clock. This is a hotspot among the elite guests for business because it’s out of the rush of downtown & is immensely secure. We moved to the Willard Hotel to experience another hotel during our 6 day trip & regretted it almost immediately to checking in to our next stay away from the Jefferson. We will be back & this will always be our preferred site to stay!
