Booked 2 rooms last minute for an overnight getaway with teen girls having their own room. This was our first stay at Washington Plaza and we LOVED IT. Definitely a 70s, vintage vibe...nothing fancy, but the location, front desk service, view from room, pool, food, and prices were excellent. We did upgrade our room to have slightly more space and a wonderful view of the circle. Room was still smaller than most of the other hotels we usually stay at in DC, but the view made up for it. Also, having a mini fridge, coffee maker and ice on the floor was a bonus. Only slightly negative was the pool bar service. Drinks, food, and prices were good, but the bartender did not hide the fact that she did not want to be there. She left me waiting for several minutes while chatting with staff without even a greeting, and expressed relief when I canceled an order of drinks. Maybe she was just having a bad day, (which we all do)so I wasn't terribly bothered.

I would recommend this hotel for your stay in DC. We were down here for college tours for my daughter, and of course to do a bit of sight seeing. This hotel is very conveniently located near many restaurants, sights, and metro station stops. The outside neighborhood is relatively clean and pleasant, as well. The lobby, hall areas, and rooms are all very clean and Meticulously maintained. The rooms were cleaned well each day and towels were restocked, as necessary. Two negatives, though. There is no coffee available in the lobby for the guests. The 1st and 2nd shift front desk workers are not very personable, but the 3rd shift was very helpful and friendly.

This was a last minute trip for my husband and I to use up some airline credits that were about to expire. I quickly read the reviews of this hotel and decided to give it a try. I’m so happy I did! Although the decor is a bit dated, the service was top notch! We were cheerfully greeted upon every entry/exit of the hotel. The outdoor pool was a treat & even had a lifeguard!! The staff at the poolside restaurant was also fantastic and friendly. The food we ordered, spinach dip one day and a pizza another, were delicious! My husband appreciated grabbing a cold soda from the lobby for a couple of dollars multiple times throughout our stay. The hotel was conveniently located a decent walk from two Metro stations. It had 4 elevators, so we never had to wait to get to or from our near the top level room. The shower had great pressure and the bed was comfortable. We would definitely stay at The Washington Plaza Hotel again.

We usually stay at name brand hotels to get consistency but this stay was arranged for us. The Washington Plaza is a great find! Clean, quiet, well located, and has all the services you need. It has a great pool with bar and servers who also provide food service. Only issue was on the second day (a weekend day), the pool was short staffed and the servers they had seemed new so things went a little slower than they did the day before,

Excellent stay about 1.5 miles from the big museums. Area has plenty of restaurants / stores and is safe. Staff at hotel were exceptional - helpful and friendly. Food at hotel was unexpectedly quite good. Excellent for families. Pool was great with life guard. I'd return. Beds and pillows great. Bathroom had tub. Clean rooms.
