Tenisha, the receptionist, was absolutely a gem and went out of her way to assist us in every possible way. She even sang me happy birthday upon check-in in front of the entire lobby. Whenever I needed anything, she was always so available and accommodating.
This hotel is lovely! Very clean, exceptionally friendly staff, and a lovely pool. If you're looking for a comfortable home base without a ton of bells and whistles, this is the spot for you. Our Queen-sized room was larger than we expected for DC. Easily walkable to loads of great restaurants and activities. A bit of a hike to the National Mall, but certainly doable (and quite nice if you take your time). We especially enjoyed the pool and pool bar. We didn't eat at the hotel much, though we did get the cheese pizza as a pool snack and it was great! Would definitely stay here again.
Tenisha was overwhelmingly kind, offered a lot of time to help us and showed our family how to get around in D.C. I have never met a kinder hotel staff member than her in my life. Thanks so much for helping us!
We loved it. Love the South Beach 1960’s vibe. Great pool to escape Washington heat, complete with drinks service. Everything is clean and staff is very nice and knowledgeable. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We would come back anytime we visit.
Stayed at the hotel over 2 times in 14 days, and have only praise for the staff, the rooms. Can only recommend this fantastic hotel, with its location, central, and yet there is peace and quiet when you are in the hotel and in the pool area. Clean and tidy, and incredible service minded staff. Thanks from the family from Denmark
Friendly and helpful staff, good food, nice rooms, great location, plus a swimming pool! The people here are anxious to make your stay in D.C. enjoyable. Most of what we wanted to see was within walking distance, but thank God for Lyft and Uber.
We booked this hotel an hour or so before checking in due to being suddenly displaced from our home in DC due to a maintenance issue. We were quite literally out on the streets in the middle of heatwave. Given these circumstances, we did not look closely at reviews etc, because if we had, we would not have booked here. The hotel is extremely dated - tiny rooms, mold in the bathroom tile, the bed (which I sat on for all of 5 minutes) was hard as a rock and there were buckets collecting dripping ceiling water in the hallways! All of this we could have dealt with, but we unfortunately felt unsafe in the rooms. There are no deadbolts, interior latches or chains on the room doors! I have traveled to dozens of countries in the last 20 years and never stayed in a hotel where this was the case before. The only safety was the electronic lock. As a young woman staying alone in a hotel room, this was absolutely a no-go for me. Not only that, but my door had about a 1/2 inch gap that I could see out into the hallway through, because it didn't sit properly in the frame! After expressing concerns to reception, they moved me to a new room without a gap in the door, but I and my party still did not feel safe. We went back to reception to discuss if there were further safety measures they could put in place and were met with incredibly rude dismissiveness of our concerns and literal blank stares from one of the staff. Then manager Joy was brought over to speak to us, and let me tell you - Joy was an absolute JOY of a human being. If I could rate Joy alone, I would give 5 stars! Joy listened to our concerns, offered solutions, and ultimately was able to cancel our stay so that we could book at a new hotel we felt safe at. Joy was empathetic when we just needed a kind word after the harrowing few hours we had been through. I am so thankful Joy was there to assist us. Joy is a ROCKSTAR. If you do stay at this hotel, ask for Joy when you check in!…
Well I made a reservation with booking.com and the idiot of a agentnwent and canceled my reservation when I specifically told him not to and I would handle a room change at the property in person. So that ties up the money I had already spent on the room which basically made me pay double untill my refund comes back. That's completely messed up my plans for tbe family in DC cutting our spending money in half. As for the hotel it's much further from all the attractions than you realize and walking is a task especially since every street looks the same we ended up getting lost twice for a total of 3 hours in the blistering sun. The pool is really nice and clean the only downside was that it's a heated pool which is not preferable after coming in from 99 degree weather. I got a superior queen room with balcony and let's say it's literally almost a closet. The bed was not a queen but a full although it was comfortable it definitely was advertised wrong and made for a terrible night of sleep. The balcony overlooks the pool but the door definitely needs refurbished as anytime you open it the room door would slam shut. The walls are paper thin and there's a huge gap between the Dorr and the floor so you can hear any and everything going on in the hotel. The bathroom is bigger than the actual room but had the same toilets you see at sports arenas. The toilets your flush with your foot. Housekeeping was good but for some reason they took it upon themselves to move all my things and line them up against the wall categorized. All my things including our suitcases, UNDWERWEAR, shoes, colognes etc! They should not be touching your private belonging only cleaning around them. The food is crazy expensive we didn't even give it a try. The front desk people were nice except for one 20 something white girl with tattoos everywhere on her body who would not give me the total price she was charging for the room. Parking is like 43 a day but you can come and go as you please. The access cards are worthless and I had to have mine replaced 5 times many times leaving my family sitting in the hallways after long days waiting to get in. The gym is nice but old and is int he basement I'm still waiting on my security deposit to be returned to me to see if this place tries to scam you like most when you check out. All in all its a OK hotel definitely wouldn't be my first choice if I go again given the distance and the decor. They need to have all the charges outlined and visitors should not have to wait days after checking out to see what the security deposit is! It's like they are using our security deposits as a line if credit for themselves which is ridiculous because that hotel was packed and bringing in bouku money …
So the hotel is quite misleading, very dated and tired rooms. The one thing I will say is that the rooms and surrounding areas very clean. I was in total shock when standing outside two enormous rats rats ran past me to the pool area. When I discretely mentioned to reception, the girl replied, z” Ryan we have them, it’s the alleys and dumpsters that attract them. Not quite the response I would expect for a large, mid price hotel. Also the balcony door is a death trap. No warning about the foot high drop as you step/fall out the door which is extremely difficult to open. Again staff just apologized when I mentioned this…never checked back to see if my injured knee was okay. The cockroach traps in the ice room were also a bit off putting, although this could just be to prevent an infestation.…
First things first.. I’ll start with Tenisha from the front desk. very knowledgeable when she was asked about surrounding attractions & activities. . Her attitude set the tone for the remainder of my stay at this hotel which is satisfactory for me.
