Thehotel is well located, and the spacious rooms were good for my family. Valet and front desk staff were friendly. We had a few issues that added up over the couple of nights we were there- we needed the pull out mattress, which was bare, with no sheets or blankets anywhere. i tried to call down, but our room phone did not work. We had to go to the lobby three different times, as we were first brought a single pillow and flat sheet, then a bare duvet with a completely wet fitted sheet. This all took about an hour and a half of our evening, with exhausted little kids just wanting to sleep. Understandable toforgo housekeeping during the stay for covid, but inconveniences could easily be avoided by stocking rooms with extra towels, garbage bags, k cups, etc. We had to get pretty creative, especially since our phone didnt work and we really lost faith that first night 😂. We were locked out of our room early as well on our last day, and these little things can take a while to resolve because there is just one staff member available and often a line for support. it wasn't terrible, but we booked because this hotel is know for being good for families, and it wasn't for ours.

I never give reviews but I think families need to be aware of what they are signing up for. The hotel has two buildings the one they advertise and the other they don’t. Their elevators don’t work, rooms have lamps but they don’t work, the refrigerator leaks, the room smells, paper thin walls. The morning staff and the valet staff is good but the lady managing the front desk at night has selective hearing. If you need assistance at night you can forget about it. I didn’t feel safe with my kids because there is no staff managing the second building. I think they should give more details on their two building process so people don’t get screwed thinking they are booking something else and get something else. The location is great but the hotel is deceiving. Don’t charge me the high dollars if you are going to give below average rooms and mediocre to crappy service. Train your night front desk lady to do her job and act professional. Sticking your head into your cell phone pretending to not listen is not acceptable at any level. The second building is disgusting and how do you run a place with no working elevator? Gross!

Good afternoon kdp431, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your most recent stay here at the Capitol Hill Hotel. While I am thankful you took the time to share, I am saddened to hear that the level of service you received was not up the standard that it should have been. I would like to first apologize about the elevator being out during your stay. We did recently undergo an elevator modernization in our second building, to make sure we had the latest, and most up to date elevator for the building. I am sincerely sorry that this work took place during your time with us. The work has since been completed and is no longer an issue. We do have staff in both buildings, but for extra safety and security our second building is key access only to ensure that only registered guests can access it. Your feedback regarding the staff here will be addressed promptly, and I welcome you back to the hotel to see the changes we have made first hand. Should your travels bring you back to the DC area, it would be a pleasure to personally prepare you accommodations, and ensure you get the best room and rate possible. If you decide to take me up on my offer please contact me at the hotel directly and I will be more than happy to assist you. My sincere apologies again, and I thank you so much for the feedback about your stay. I look forward to meeting you in person next time. Until then....Safe Travels!! Barry Allen General Manager
