The rooms need a proper designer as a little old fashioned and clustered! But in all honesty everything is irrelevant when the staff are this good and attentive! Food good position is good but again i must compliment the GM because the staff are exceptional!

We stayed here for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary in June 2021. This hotel earns a 5 out of 5, 10 out of 10, or 99 out of 100 depending on what site you’re reading this review on! Check-in: super smooth, and the chocolates and the notice of unlimited bottled water upon checking in were a nice touch. So many hotels nickel-and-dime you for bottled water, but at least the Mandarin Oriental knows that if you’re paying for a 5-star hotel, there’s no need to gouge their guests in the pursuit of thirst quenching. Our becoming a fan of M.O. gave us a celebratory treat that greeted us in our room. Room: Simply beautiful, elegant, and modern. We stayed in a Premier Water View King Room that has a view of the Jefferson Memorial, Tidal Basin, and DC Wharf. We were on the 3rd floor, which still put the railroad tracks in our view (basically at the height of the second floor), so I would have liked to have stayed on a slightly higher floor. The bathroom was phenomenal, with excellent water pressure and a very large shower area. The lights could be controlled by hand or a control panel on the nightstand, which was pretty slick. I only wish that the quality of the toilet paper matched the quality of everything else. It was thin, and I’ll leave it at that. The hotel has a bridge crossing over I-395, so it was only a 9-minute walk to the Southwest Waterfront. Amenities/Service: They disabled the minibar, which makes sense during the COVID-19 pandemic. I requested a kettle for my own instant coffee, which arrived at our room in less than 10 minutes. There was never an issue getting anything sent to us from the front desk. Streaming to the TV from our tablet did not work very well, however, so we gave up after 11 tries and just watched shows with our tablet and our Bluetooth speaker. The pool is large and well-maintained, but I wish there was some music (even lobby music) playing in there due to the acoustics. Because of the pandemic, the pool/room capacity was limited to 20 people at a time, with every other cabana being occupied. I felt like I had to whisper to not have anything I said be overhead by guests of other parties. We did not use any of their spa services on this stay, but what we could see looked very nice. Restaurants/Room Service: We reserved the staycation package that included 2 pm checkout, valet parking with in/out privileges, and free room service breakfast each morning. Everything was fresh and delicious. We used our dining credit for lunch at checkout time. Their lunch menu was limited to 6 items (out of their usual 20+) for some unknown reason, but what was available was delicious. Check-out: equally as smooth as check-in, and we were even given a Mandarin Oriental umbrella as we got our car out of valet for the last time! We will definitely return the next time we do an in-town getaway!

We went for a getaway birthday weekend. The afternoon tea was fantastic and the spa was wonderful. We enjoyed using a pool and gym and it was nice a quiet to sleep. The service is A+. We felt so happy being there and everyone treats you well and as a valued guest. We walked to the District Wharf several times and it’s an easy stroll. This is our new favorite hotel group and we will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

My best friend and I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental while visiting last month. The rooms were spacious and quiet with a beautiful view of the water and huge, marble bathrooms. The concierge, Anthony, was so helpul and frank about what museums and buildings remained open. We enjoyed high tea and daily breakfast from room service. Joining Friends of the Mandarin provided us with free breakfast everyday.

We stayed here for an overnight celebration of our 2nd wedding anniversary. I was a bit nervous as I hadn't stayed at a hotel in a while, the front desk person was so friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and more lovely than the online pictures. We had a view of the Jefferson Memorial and enjoyed both the sunset and sunset. The staff was universally helpful and professional, we felt well taken care of. The hotel itself is beautifully designed - gold tones underscore everything and give a sense of sophistication, hope and optimism. I loved the faux cherry tree in the lobby :) We had time for a drink at the bar before our dinner reservations, service was efficient and professional. We enjoyed taking our masks off and sipping our drinks. I had one of the signature cocktails flavoured with beets (it was a gorgeous deep pink colour) and my husband enjoyed a perfectly made vodka martini. Our room was quiet and well-appointed. Room service was prompt and the food was delicious. Every member of staff we encountered was helpful and professional, they were also friendly and happy and it great to be with them. I also really enjoyed the helpful SMS messaging system prior to arrival, it was very easy to use.
