I normally stay with lovely friends in the DC area but was travelling with another friend from where I live who likes fine hotels. This was a splurge. The lobby is pleasant with lots of seating. As other reviews mention, they have a happy hour here in the early evening. Front desk was helpful and placed my friend's room next...

My husband, teenage son and I stayed for 4 days at the beginning of January (just in time to see the Xmas decorations being taken down) and everything about this great hotel was perfect. It is the old Post Office building, a beautiful Victorian grand affair with high ceilings, incredible architecture and a real 'wow' factor. It is in a...

No coffee maker in room, some rooms very little drawer space, closets are very tiny! The restaurant in the hotel lacks much to be desired. Never got the coffee ordered for breakfast, they had to "find" the cranberry juice at breakfast, the late night menu is extremely limited! Won't be stay again.

Stayed here in early January after spending 4 days in new York. The contrast was huge - not just between the cities but in the quality of the accommodation. Probably one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Stylish, great rooms, huge bed - but attentive staff and many extra touches thrown in that were invaluable - none more...

We were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and decided to book at the Hotel Monaco. They honored the orbitz price quote when I called them directly. The Mediterranean suite was really beautiful, especially the stand alone tub in the bathroom. Thanks to Kara for making it happen!

I have stayed in many Kimpton hotels and this is one of the best. An unfailing aspect of KImptons is the friendly staff, from the front desk to the maids. The building is a former post office that occupies an entire block. The exterior is an architectural gem and many of the interior features have been preserved. We had a...

I stayed here a week for business and although it is a nice hotel, I probably wouldn't stay here again. The first night, I was in a room where I was woken up by the outside traffic around 5am. They kindly allowed me to move rooms to be on the inside of the hotel overlooking their courtyard bar/restaurant. That was...

We wanted to stay somewhere fancy and luxurious for New Year's Eve. This place had been recommended to us and judging by the pictures we saw on the website it looked pretty amazing. We got the premier King room which is usually $339. I got a discount for being a triple A Member which brought it down to 289 so...

I love grand buildings, and the don't come much grander that this old Post Office building. The Monaco not only resides in a grand exterior, but it has preserved the great details in the better rooms, especially the suites. The rooms are large (for Washington, especially), well appointed, and very comfortable. Of course you get Kimpton's great service as well, and...

We simply love the Kimpton hotels. Unique, often in wonderfully renovated and historical buildings, great beds, lovingly appointed rooms, exquisite toiletries, excellent food, and fantastic customer service - I mean, really fantastic. This one, the Hotel Monaco in DC has never disappointed us. It's also right across the street from 3 national museums, 3 blocks up from The Mall (on...
