A stayed at the St Gregory one weeknight in October. I had a room facing M street on the 2nd floor...incredibly noisy! You can hear the street all day and all night. My room also had an air conditioner that sounded like a wind turbine and a running toilet. Room was large but signs of age were everywhere...chipped closet vanity, peeling wallpaper, threadbare towels (and no washcloth), and a cracked slipguard in the tub. On the plus side the bed was comfortable and those linens seemed newer. Also water got very hot in the shower. In short...this hotel is average. Wouldnt visit again given the other options in the area.
My wife and I wanted a quick getaway and decided to visit DC. Intending to spend several days visiting the museums and exploring nearby restaurants, we booked a room at the St. Gregory Hotel, a short distance from everything we wanted to do and see. Instead, we checked in—and stayed put. The hotel was comfortable and accommodating but, instead of exploring the town, we ate, drank, and spent time visiting with friends —all at the St. Greg Kitchen & Bar. The food, the service, and the hotel were great, as expected, but there was one individual who made our visit outstanding. The bartender, Minyae, made the St. Gregory more than a hotel, but a professional, attentive, and fun “personality” of a place that we will recommend and return.
The St Gregory Hotel is a very nice hotel. The location is great; the staff is friendly and helpful; the rooms are well appointed; and the rates are reasonable. BUT........... there are some things that are not explained upfront. When we checked in (we had pre-paid) we asked for a $150 deposit (a facility fee we later found out) that would be removed from our credit charge upon check out. It wasn't. It turns out we were assessed a charge of $34 per day (facility fee) and were due a "refund" of about $48. We never got it. The hotel needs to do a better job explaining the "facility fee" and what portion of the deposit collected at registration would be returned. I'll attribute the failure to return a portion of our facility fee to administrative error. I called about it and was referred to a night manager. It shouldn't be that complicated. One other issue. Like many in the hotel industry in this Covid era, the St Gregory does not clean rooms on a daily basis. I have no problem with this. It's just something else that should be explained up front. When we asked for clean towels 2 days into our stay the hotel was very obliging. And I'm sure if we had asked for other housekeeping items they would have provided them. Maybe this is addressed on their website. But it still could be reinforced on arrival. So we probably won't return to the St Gregory which is too bad. Because, as I stated above, it's a great location and basically a decent hotel.…
I took my 11 year old to DC for a gathering of friends. Our trip was magical and the The St. Gregory Hotel was a central part of our visit to the city. Kaye was incredibly helpful. She made sure we took advantage of the wonderful hotel breakfast and she made recommendations for other delightful dining near the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is beautiful and the staff are incredible.
The staff at the hotel, especially Kaye, is incredible. Hotel was beautiful and chic. Had drinks at the bar after a long day of sightseeing and touring colleges. The rooms were cool, clean and very comfortable. Beds were great. Location was interesting and a nice walk to everything in DC.
