I'm sorry to have to write bad things about this place, because I almost begged the owner to stay there. I and my wife had a reservation at the 1600 Hotel with Trivago that forwarded us to Hotel Power and when I arrived there on the 5th of june, very kindly they told us that our reservation was not valid because was an overbooking. With they help I tried for hours to speak with Hotel Power, without any success to be placed in another hotel of the same level. So when it was almost evening I searched the web and found this place, made the online reservation and went there. The owner told us that the room was left very late by the previous guest and needed to be clean and prepared for us and even the AC was not working properly. I had to insist ad we waited for 45 minutes for the cleaning. When we had the room... incredibly small and this was not a problem. But it was dirty above all my imagination, the floor was clearly not even been brushed and washed, we found rest of food in the closets, broken part of furniture in the dirty wardrobe and the sheets were cleaned but full of old marks! We spent two nights there without seen anyone of the staff! I will never suggest this place, not even to an enemy!

Last evening, for the SECOND time, I encountered a frustrated, confused traveler who asked me for help trying to figure out how to get in. There is no staff here in the evening. He didn't have his entry codes or room number. He didn't have a US phone to call. I called for him and spent a good 20 min. trying to get all the information. When we finally got him in to room 101 I was horrified to see a tiny musty room with NO EGRESS window. The window was glass block. There is another tiny room down there #102 that also doesn't appear to have an egress window. The whole basement level is a shabby warren. I have seen some of the upstairs rooms a couple of years ago, and they are not as bad. But there are plenty of better options for your stay.

First I have called and left several messages for management to call me back and everyone has ignored me. We arrived at 330 to find no one there but were directed to our room by the person on the phone when we found our room it wasn’t ready so we had to track down a maid who didn’t understand a word we were saying but finally got our room ready. The pictures provided of the room and the actual room are nothing alike, the website describes it as a suite but it’s more like a hastily thrown together spare room from an IKEA sale 10 years ago. All of the homes next to it appear to have been properly remodeled but this “Inn” was most likely bought by someone whom fancies themselves an investor but then half assed everything, the deck is blocked off so no one falls through it, no secure spot for vehicle just a muddy driveway that you have you get blocked into by other guests, holes in walls, tape over electrical outlets etc

I’m an elite Marriott rewards member. When I first saw this place that my friend found on Hotwire as a “really great deal,” I was appalled. Small dank basement room and with only a small window in the questionably clean bathroom. Room air conditioner. I immediately got on the phone to Marriott but was told that there were no vacancies anywhere in the metro DC area. After returning late that evening after a 5:30 am to 11pm, 20,000 plus step day, it looked better. And after realizing the shower faucet was installed backwards and the blue setting was really hot water and I could have a hot shower, it wasn’t so bad. The next evening brought a greater appreciation. The location is great. A 10 minute walk from the Columbia Heights metro station and a short metro ride to the DC mall. Lots of good local restaurants and bars a short walk away. And compared to the Army barracks I stayed in during my career in the Army Reserve, it’s a 5 star room. If you’re not too picky, this place is ok.

Metro (Columbia Heights) is about 3 blocks from this place which is a big plus to visit DC. But the "garden room" was in the basement (no garden), there was no air conditioning, and breakfast was quite limited in options.
