#3 of 153 hotels in Washington DC
Newly opened, Riggs Washington DC, has received a Four-Diamond recognition, has been rated "Top 5 Restaurants and Bars in the World", and "Top New Hotels in the World" by Conde Nast Traveler all within our opening year. The team at Riggs welcomes you to a refreshingly personable guest experience with world-class dining, amenities, and safety and sanitation measures to ensure the utmost levels of cleanliness. The hotel is located on the iconic corner of 9th and F Street in the former “Bank of Presidents" and is re-imagined for the modern sophisticated traveler in the city’s thriving Penn Quarter. The property features 181 guest rooms and suites – each reminiscent of a private safety deposit box, paying homage to the building’s legacy – Cafe Riggs, our all-occasion European brasserie-inspired cafe and lounge that celebrates its traditional European influences, offering comforting fare, re-imagined favorites, and an expansive plant-based menu – including delights such as the caviar grilled cheese. Rooftop at Riggs provides a sophisticated rooftop bar terrace where views of Penn Quarter are complemented by a bright and breezy menu of Mediterranean inspired aperitifs. Riggs’ lower level is home to Silver Lyan, a subterranean cocktail bar by the internationally acclaimed bartender and Lore Group’s Global Bar Innovator Ryan Chetiyawardana (aka “Mr. Lyan”). *Silver Lyan and Rooftop at Riggs are temporarily closed*. The hotel also offers pet-friendly amenities, custom complimentary city bikes, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. We look forward to welcoming you to Riggs DC!

What a delightful evening we had! From the moment we stepped into the building looking like quite homeless (or perhaps disheveled) civilians we received nothing but the highest level of service! From the instant friendly smiles (or crinkled eyes behind masks) to the warmth and intimacy of every single staffer that we encountered over various shifts, we truly felt as if we’ve come home every time we step foot inside (and we LIVE here in DC!). The room was absolutely stunning! We were in the Ida McKinley First Lady Suite which was beautifully pink all over. There truly was no detail left behind. From the fresh flowers to the hand sanitizing wipes by the bed to the ringtone of the old phone. Absolutely brilliant! Could not have possibly been more impressed. We enjoyed the well stocked mini bar but made sure to have a delectable duck confit dinner. We loved the plush bed and we couldn’t help ourselves, we had to order our breakfast in bed and it came with some wonderful thick cut bacon. We had a chance to make it down to the gym which was also quite nice with the most luxurious boxing bag we've ever seen which was an amusing surprise. We had a wonderful time and we absolutely cannot wait to return. It felt swell to be outside of our own home, in a different part of the city and in such luxury!

Riggs DC: A hospitality guru's dream, an interior designer's vision board, and an architect's visual buffet. In other words, Riggs DC is bar none to the other hotels in the DC-area, details for days in every ounce of the hotel. The staff at Riggs radiated positivity and professionalism in each and every interaction that I had at their hotel. In the heart of some of DC's best offerings , Riggs is family-friendly location—just a stone’s throw to the metro, several museums, theaters, galleries, Chinatown and restaurants/bars. We stayed in January 2021. While we couldn't see their smiles via the mask, (applause for the COVID cautious health and safety implementations), I could feel the positivity emanating from the staff. Starting with the valet, they kicked off our staycation with enthusiasm, kindness and an all around good vibe. All those things and more continued to the front desk as we checked in with Morgan (who is so kind, knowledgeable, patient and provided a complimentary upgrade). I could go on and on, but all this said, as someone who finds it hard to have “me-time” these days (as many do) and was wondering if a staycation was worth it—I say , "Yes, 100% worth it!” We can't wait to do it again! Friends have already booked with Riggs after I raved about it. Soo...thinking about staying at the Riggs? Please do, you won’t regret it. Kids and dogs would love it, too!

You will not regret choosing Riggs DC. After an unforgettable experience in December, I was thrilled to return for an anniversary celebration this February. Dawit at the door brought my hungry mood up instantly with his bright smile and assistance, and as always, front desk staff (specifically Morgan Rika and Taylor on this evening) were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The space is impeccably designed from tip to tail and I felt COVID-Comfortable throughout the hotel and Cafe Riggs (stunning and delectable in its own right.) Veronica and everyone at Riggs have always made for stupendous staycations and I am counting down the days to our next visit!

I'm a picky traveler and I could not find any fault with this property. The bedding, shower, food, and service were all on point. Aesthetically, it's one the most beautiful dining rooms I've ever eaten in.
