Travellers' Choice
Newly opened, Riggs Washington DC, has received a Four-Diamond recognition, has been rated "Top 5 Restaurants and Bars in the World", and "Top New Hotels in the World" by Conde Nast Traveler all within our opening year. The team at Riggs welcomes you to a refreshingly personable guest experience with world-class dining, amenities, and safety and sanitation measures to ensure the utmost levels of cleanliness. The hotel is located on the iconic corner of 9th and F Street in the former “Bank of Presidents" and is re-imagined for the modern sophisticated traveler in the city’s thriving Penn Quarter. The property features 181 guest rooms and suites – each reminiscent of a private safety deposit box, paying homage to the building’s legacy – Cafe Riggs, our all-occasion European brasserie-inspired cafe and lounge that celebrates its traditional European influences, offering comforting fare, re-imagined favorites, and an expansive plant-based menu – including delights such as the caviar grilled cheese. Rooftop at Riggs provides a sophisticated rooftop bar terrace where views of Penn Quarter are complemented by a bright and breezy menu of Mediterranean inspired aperitifs. Riggs’ lower level is home to Silver Lyan, a subterranean cocktail bar by the internationally acclaimed bartender and Lore Group’s Global Bar Innovator Ryan Chetiyawardana (aka “Mr. Lyan”). *Silver Lyan and Rooftop at Riggs are temporarily closed*. The hotel also offers pet-friendly amenities, custom complimentary city bikes, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. We look forward to welcoming you to Riggs DC!

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location downtown Washington, D.C. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and accommodating. The lounge area is a great place to relax with a coffee, wine or other beverage. Their bar requires reservations and is a unique experience especially if you like specialty cocktails. The restaurant food was delicious. Try the salmon toast! Yummy! Won’t need to eat lunch after one of their breakfast items! No need for a car. Several metro stops within blocks of the hotel. Parking downtown is expensive! It was quite a treat to stay at such a high end hotel and worth every penny!

Hotel's Favourite
What a delightful evening we had! From the moment we stepped into the building looking like quite homeless (or perhaps disheveled) civilians we received nothing but the highest level of service! From the instant friendly smiles (or crinkled eyes behind masks) to the warmth and intimacy of every single staffer that we encountered over various shifts, we truly felt as if we’ve come home every time we step foot inside (and we LIVE here in DC!). The room was absolutely stunning! We were in the Ida McKinley First Lady Suite which was beautifully pink all over. There truly was no detail left behind. From the fresh flowers to the hand sanitizing wipes by the bed to the ringtone of the old phone. Absolutely brilliant! Could not have possibly been more impressed. We enjoyed the well stocked mini bar but made sure to have a delectable duck confit dinner. We loved the plush bed and we couldn’t help ourselves, we had to order our breakfast in bed and it came with some wonderful thick cut bacon. We had a chance to make it down to the gym which was also quite nice with the most luxurious boxing bag we've ever seen which was an amusing surprise. We had a wonderful time and we absolutely cannot wait to return. It felt swell to be outside of our own home, in a different part of the city and in such luxury!

Wonderful staff - loved the hotel history story by our bellman while heading up to our room. The decore is posh and bougie- and I like it! The room and bedding was very comfortable. This hotel is close to everything- sightseeing, and great restaurant offerings. Will definitely go there again.

This was our first trip to DC - we decided to visit after attending a wedding in VA. Upon arrival, our room wasn't ready (we arrived early at 11:30am / check-in is 4pm). The front desk was very accommodating - they took our bags and even provided a vase / arranged some fresh flowers I had brought from the wedding (yes - they cut the flowers down and arranged to fit the vase!). Tiffany at the concierge desk was as friendly and sweet as can be - she got us in to a top Italian restaurant in Georgetown (Filomena) that evening which was great! She also gave us recommendations for other restaurants as well (we loved Oyamel for Mexican). We popped over to the Museum of Natural History (the Smithsonian's and National Mall are all within walking distance) so the location couldn't be more perfect. The hotel is absolutely beautiful from the rooms / lobby and of course Cafe Riggs (stunning). We are so grateful to have such a great memory of our first trip to DC - we will definitely be back and couldn't imagine staying anywhere else!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Riggs. The deluxe king room was thoughtfully designed and spacious. The hotel was centrally located and great for walking to all the main DC sites. The hotel staff was courteous, professional and helpful. Tiffany with the concierge was knowledgeable and friendly; she provided us with valuable information and advice about DC. We will be returning soon!
