Our last stop on the Queen Charlotte track. The room was comfortable and warm, with good views. The food and service in the restaurant was wonderful and we found it to be the best value for money on the trail.

Night 3 of the Queen Charlotte track. This was the best of the three places we stayed. Rooms were excellent and warm, whilst the bar area allowed for sitting in the late afternoon sun to tell tales of "mountainous" conquests, and then partake in a stunning sunset. The restaurant itself was delightful (dinner and breakfast), and packed lunch was fine....

Spent one night here at the end of our walk, lovely setting and facilities. The meals, breakfast and dinner were first class, the room was comfortable although the shower door leaked onto the floor - a seemingly common fault in a lot of hotel/motel bathrooms. the staff were friendly and helpful, we would like to return

Nice place read reviews and didn't really know what to expect, amazing setting place just looks tired so much potential. This could be the jewel of the sounds but It feels like the owners don't really care about it. Please sell it to someone who cares

We stayed at Portage in a Kowhai Premier Room (Room 8) for one night while walking the Queen Charlotte Track. This was one of four places we stayed along the track and by far the best. We had a very wet day walking to Portage from Punga Cove and with three other walkers I arrived wet through. It was a...

My friend and I recently walked the Queen Charlotte track and the Portage Resort Hotel was our third nights accommodation. After reading the reviews we were unsure of what to expect. After a long days walk in temperatures of over 30 we arrived tired, not too impressed to find our bags had not been taken to our room as the...

I agree with many of the other reviewers that The Portage is in need of some attention. The location can't be faulted but the resort is falling into a state of disrepair - from small things like cobwebs on the verandah, to larger things like the closed and scruffy coffee shop. This place could be first class if only it...

Very nice rooms for being in a rather inaccessible location and the dinner was absolutely outstanding -- fresh local fish beautifully prepared with fresh veggies. Deserts were 5-star too. Quiet sanctuary during a ride on the Track but a daunting uphill back up to the Track in the morning. Walkers can get a shuttle but we made the trek on...
