This is a well seasoned venue, with experienced hosts. I cannot fault the "attention to detail". The bed was superb, and did I mention the linen? Ooooh la la! I was able to cook myself a gourmet breakfast (fabulous meats supplied by the Akaroa Butchery), as Gatekeepers Cottage thoughtfully supplied all necessary kitchen equipment; right down to the cooking oil,...

I brought my parents to Akaroa for four nights as a thank-you, and Kokopu Cottage was just perfect. We loved the ambience of the old cottage, the beautiful linens and the bellbirds and hares in the garden. The weather was glorious for the first two days and we enjoyed wandering around the shops in Akaroa and then lunching by the...

We (my boyfriend and I from Germany) had an amazing stay of 2 days at the Gate Keepers. Lovely furnished bedroom incl. small kitchen, bath room, lounge and a sunny terrace (everything very clean). The Gate Keepers is quietly situated – there are only birds in the morning that sing their songs. We also walked to Akaroa and did some...

We had a lovely stay in the Gate Keepers and highly recommend staying there for a relaxing, peaceful break away. Beautifully presented and tucked just far enough from Akaroa township to offer spectacular views and but still nice and close so that you can easily pop out for a stroll around the town. The food was great and Wendy and...

Wendy and Mark were are most friendly hosts in the 14 places we stayed in New Zealand; --On the date of our arrival they invited us up for delightful wine and cheese and gave us excellent advice of where to go eat and what to see during our visit. --On the 2nd morning they made the best breakfast we had...

Thank you for your review. I would like to respond to your negative comments. First of all, the walk between the two cottages takes little over 2 minutes and for other groups, this has been a positive situation. Your comments about the cost: I am not sure if you realised it at the time, but you actually paid more than...

Very nice Bed and Breakfast just a few minutes drive above the small town of Akaroa. The rooms have a good size and the bath is just on the floor next to the room. The house itself is built out of stone with a great garden and nice track behind the house to the upper winery with great view over...

We LOVE Kokopu Estate. Our only wish is that it were a little closer to home so that we could visit more often. Typical Kiwis, Mark and Wendy are warm, helpful, interesting and friendly. They are consummate pros at hosting - allowing their guests as much privacy or "together" time as the guests wish! The property is a real gem...

We stayed here for two nights to explore Akaroa and the Banks Peninsula. It was quite simply a little piece of heaven. We stayed in The Gatekeepers Cottage which has two rooms. A downstairs sitting room facing a beautiful courtyard with fish pond and an upstairs with a huge, very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and basic kitchen. We ate out...

Stayed 3 nights in Potager Suite in the main house. Warm welcome, excellent breakfasts, comfortable room and given excellent advice on restaurants and outings. Open fire in living room a real treat. A wonderfully relaxing retreat before our long flight back to the UK.

We have stayed in dozens of cottages in Akaroa over the years and this little rustic charmer is our favourite. Pretty, comfy, clean and tucked away in idyllic surrounds. Biccies and books beside the babbling brook, an entire estate to explore and ...yes, an outdoor bath. And good quality linen. And fluffy towels. And not having to clean. And a...
