This is a very up market hostel. It has a mix of en suite rooms and others with a shared bathroom. There is a large kitchen and sitting room with ample wifi. Everything is of the best quality with a real home from home atmosphere. And it is spotless. It is located a short drive from Akaroa but it is... More

Great value hostel near a beautiful beach at Okains Bay. More like a B&B than anything else. Comfortable, clean rooms, one with private bath. Ample kitchen supplies and pleasant managers. Close enough to Akaroa for restaurants and shopping. Highly recommended.

If you want real New Zealand, this is it! Surrounded by beautiful countryside, this place is worth the drive from Akaroa or anywhere else you may be traveling from. The place is beautiful with hardwood floors, an amazing huge kitchen , and a shower that you don't want to get out of. Peace and quiet, comfy beds, and a beach... More

Might be the cleanest hostel I've been to ever. Very tidy, homely, comfortable, small and most of all, friendly! Choice place to stay near Akaroa. Bathroom, kitchen, beds, all great, and the share room has plenty of extra space. Very happy I came here.

We were completing a mountainbike brevet over the weekend and had been riding for hours in the heat from Sumner along the tops to Purau, over to Pigeon Bay, the double fence line, Little River, Little Akaloa before arriving at Okains just before 9.00 pm. We had a gorgeous room and ensuite and the host had baked us fresh rye... More

Very accommodating hosts (we were given a tour even though it's only a 3 room hostel), spacious kitchen, super clean common area and bathroom, very comfortable bed, good location, free limited wifi, lots of natural light, good puzzle and book selection if you'd like a day in. 20 min drive from Akaroa.

This is cleverly-built place with just 3 rooms, which is nice as it makes it easier to get to know the other guests. The owners are helpful and friendly and they provide lots of information about activities in the area. The kitchen, dining area and lounge are spacious and well-equipped, and unlike many of the busy backpacker places we’ve stayed... More

This isn't a hostel. It's like renting a house and sharing! Great kitchen. Just remember to buy groceries en route. We hiked to the water and collected mussels which were delicious. Very quiet setting away from it all. Nice and relaxing. Recommend a few nights if you can swing it.

Driving out to this hostel on some very winding roads I was not disappointed when I arrived as I felt more like being at home rather than a backpackers. Kitchen was large and stocked with all the pots pans etc you would ever need and I ended up buying some free range eggs for a small price for dinner. My... More

The hostel has a total of 3 rooms (1x double, 1x double+single, 1x triple), and as there were 6 of us travelling, we had booked exclusive use of the house. Forget all you ever knew about hostels: Double Dutch is in a standard of its own. Think 3 comfortable bedrooms, think huge kitchen/diner/lounge, think massive windows framing stunning views, think...
