We were met by the land lady and she was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very roomy clean with nice linen and reasonably priced for a holiday weekend. The bar was buzzing with locals and I guess visitors. We had a nice meal in the restaurant. The land Lord was an interesting character running between the bar and...

A solid room, warm and dry which is what I was after. Was a touch on the small side but not an issue- wasn't expecting anything massive for the price. Staff took into consideration the nature of my work and were most accommodating in giving me a room that meant I wouldn't disturb other guests. Wifi strength good which was...

The bar was busy with just two people on duty, when l ordered our meals and drinks the owner Eric said there would be a delay in our meals. I said that was okay because we were happy to have a drink first. There were only 3 tables ordered before us and their meals came out really slowly and not...

We were in Timeshare next door and were made very welcome. Barman entertained us with some real laughs enjoyed by us all. Bar meals, delicious and very reasonably priced. Sadly has lost a lot of their income after Quakes as Cruise ships now leave Akaroa where this Hotel was where meals were served, Dinning room set up quite graciously but...

I went in to this hotel on the recommendation of a shop owner when I was enquiring about reasonably priced meals in Akaroa. I had to go in to the bar to enquire about dining that night. There was a notice outside the hotel which said Blackboard specials. When I went in to the bar I was treated rudely by...

Just popped into this hotel briefly, to have a quiet play on the gaming facilities in the pub on the way back to our motel. The young lady initially behind the bar was friendly and happily swapped my twenty for some fives for the machines. We were enjoying our amusement well enough, until the machine told me to fetch an...

We tried to visit one of the higher rated restaurants in Akaroa, which were full. We therefore went to the Grand. It was an excellent choice, as the food was generous, well cooked and great value for money. The Kilo of mussels were well appreciated by my ten year old son!

The property is lovely, large, well maintained, clean, well lit and has all of the facilities available to make it a great place to go to. I believe the owner, Eric, has been there many. many years but please, do cheer up a little and make you visitors feel more welcome. We actually visited for a second time as we...

The Grand Hotel was recommended to us whilst holidaying in Akaroa. Erik and his mates welcomed my Fiancé and myself into the pub. New Zealand hospitality and good "banter" ensued. As the drinks flowed the banter got better. We picked up several "gems" of information - priceless for any traveller to unknown shores. Thanks guys

We had dinner there twice recently. Friendly staff and locals. Large meals at a great price. Lovely salad with the meal. It's got to be good when a lot of the locals drink and dine there. We will be back next trip.
