Highly recommended this hotel. Small hotel, but a great apartment. Good location. Breakfast was suitable for all. Very clean rooms. Friendly staff. Parking available. Coop and other small supermarkets close by. Approx 6 or 7 restaurant's within 15min walk distance.

Whilst the bed was comfortable and shower room fine and location good, there were several disappointments with our week’s stay at Villa Kunerad. Although only 2 of us, we had booked a triple room as we hoped this would give us a little extra space but our accommodation, room 4, was quite tightly packed with a single bed and large double bed, along with 2 small ‘comfy’ chairs and a tiny, round glass table squeezed into the main room. The chairs and table, initially, prevented access to one side of the bed and there were limited options for moving them to make access better. One chair had to permanently sit in front of the single bed, at the foot of the double. Off the hallway, which has a good-sized wardrobe with plenty of hanging space and shelves, is the shower room/toilet and a very narrow breakfast bar – again only with seating for 2 (thin!) people – along with a small fridge, sink, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery. We arrived late afternoon on a Friday in heavy rain and storms so it wasn’t until the next day that we realised there was a hotel being constructed beside Villa Kunerad. Fortunately, no one worked there over the weekend, but from Monday till the following Friday we were woken, always before 7, and even as early as 6:30 by the noise of the workmen chatting, angle grinders, radios blaring… Alongside the noise, we also lost our privacy in both the bedroom and shower room with these windows being overlooked by anyone working on site. Although the hotel looks to be a significant way through its construction, there will always be an issue with privacy on that side of Villa Kunerad as the new hotel rooms have windows and balconies looking directly into the Villa. It is also worth noting that there is another, identical, hotel being built alongside this one which is not as far down the line so the noise will continue for a long time. We appreciate that this situation is not ideal for Villa Kunerad – a family run business – after all they still need to make a living but we were disappointed that they didn’t forewarn us – giving us the choice as to continue with the booking or to go elsewhere.

We booked this accomodation 2days before the arrival, everything went well. They have nice rooms, clean and comfortable, however a bit small (not a problem for us going for early hike). They offer also breakfast, which we didn’t try (again - that early hike :) ). WiFi working OK, everything clean. Only one small inconvenience could be the next construction of new hotel/apartments. In case of late arrival I do recommend to call them in advance. The service was great and they waited for us. Even it’s not a 4* hotel, they are behaving like that.

We stayed here in 2018 NY holidays with 2 kids under 3 years old and were totally satisfied with our double room that had mini-kitchen equipped with fridge, microwave, kettle and stove and we can prepare kid's food. Building has heating floors everywhere that works just perfectly. We even reduced room temperature. Please be noted that thermostats are located behind the little door in the corridor, so ask hotel staff to set comfortable temperature in the room. Hotel has ample hall with play area for kids. There are really a lot of interesting toys and our kids loves playing there for hours. Special thanks to Janka and her family who manages this hotel. They lives in the hotel with their kids and it explains why this place is so nice and kid's friendly. Many thanks to Janka's daughter who took care of my little boys and played with them despite the fact she is elder.

Villa Kunerad isn't easy to find as it isn't located next to any main road. We wandered around the town just to find the tiny sign pointing to the guesthouse. The room was cosy but a bit small, fortunately we had more space on the balcony. Microwave oven and kettle were provided, while we would have enjoyed our stay more if tea bags had also been provided. Still, it's a nice place to rest and recharge ourselves from hiking all day. Breakfast buffet cost €5 which I think is acceptable as almost everything was provided.

Good points: - Lovely spacious room - Very warm room - Kids playing area - Free of charge Sledges - Friendly staff - Good breakfast - Lovely view - Clean rooms / common areas - Lovely bathrooms - Close to transport, shops, restaurants - Very good FREE WIFI - Flat screen TV with USB / smart TV boxes - Lovely communal sitting area - Coupons, Maps, flyers available - Free parking Bad points (things to improve) - No shampoo / shower gel provided in the bathroom - Shower tray drain was partially blocked - There were no blackout curtains in the room - Road leading to the hotel was very icy and slippery Overall it was a great stay, we loved the hotel and would definitely go back again

Very quiet place, ideally located in the center of Smokovec, very close to Hrebienok funicular station and railway station. Spacious and clean apartments for a good price, good internet connection, helpful staff, breakfasts could be better.

Villa Kunerad was very inexpensive compared to all the fancy, pricy tourist hotels in the High Tatras. We found it to be clean and comfortable, quiet and cozy, and very conveniently located within walking distance of the train station, the shopping district, and the funicular train to Hrebienok for hiking. The owner, Josef, speaks English and was very friendly. Our room was simple, but spacious, and the bathroom was updated with modern fixtures. The breakfast was 5 EU each, but it was very good, with a nice assortment of choices to fill us up before our day of hiking in the mountains. We were pleased to eat such a delicious breakfast at the hotel before getting all bundled up for our winter hike. (Breads, cold meats, cheeses, vegetables, yogurt, cereals, scrambled eggs freshly made when we came to the breakfast room, and an assortment of beverages including several juices, many varieties of tea, and coffee.
