Visited with family. The water in the spa area was 25C for 2 days so we where not able to enjoy the SPA. Although it looks nice. Rooms are ok basicaly a standard 3 star hotel. The slope for the kids is really just 1 minute from the hotel. There are good animators and good programs for the kids. Bevare of the elevators if you come with a baby-stroller. They are small.

Dear Guest, we would like to thank You for your review and the time You invested in letting us know how You´ve enjoyed your holiday in our hotel. We are very glad you liked our program and animators who are always here to make our youngest visitors happy. On the other hand we are very sorry for the situation in our wellness. We had a problem with heating system, which caused the low temperature in the swiming pool. There are technical problems which we can solve immediately and some have to be solved through the specialist whom we called from company supplaying us with their systems, which was the only solution to eliminate the problem as soon as possible. This way we would like to apologize for making your stay in our hotel less pleasent. Thank You one more time for your review. We would be very happy to see you visiting our hotel again.

We visited this hotel right after Christmas. For 3 nights in total. The price for this time of year was good bargain. Hotel is situated in central part of High Tatras. Good location and starting point to any destination of Tatras.

The rooms are clean, not smelly, nonsmoking and oddly shaped, bit darker as the main bed is situated in the niche of the room. But bed is comfortable with orthopedic mattres. The bathroom is bit small but clean.

The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. I asked for extra pillow and no trouble getting it.

We had halfboard stay ( breakfast and dinner). Food was delicious, plenty od choices to choose from..either for breakfast or dinner. They even offer gluten free bread. No complains about the service or food itself in the restaurant. The restaurant is located on the first floor with one glass wall. Very nice view from there.

Hotel offers cooking classes for adults, children or families. We did not attend any cooking class as we spent most of the time taking walks. But it is nice possibility to try something new :)

Spa area is available for all hotel visitors for free. Spa is large with 5 saunas, two relaxing rooms and one jacuzzi. Pleasant way to relax after active day outside. It is clean, with calmed lights and music. It is situated at -1st floor. Convenient with no disturbing light, other activities than spa. They also offer massages for extra cost.

I recommend this place. Nice hotel to stay at , even with your little ones. We will definatelly come back there.

Very interesting hotel, family friendly with small standard rooms and a restaurant. The restaurant has great menu, but you have to wait for it. You ask how long? Very long, it takes near to 15 min to just get a menu you can choose from. A great budget hotel with great food but terrible restaurant service.

It all start with wery arrogant and rude receptionist refusing to give me rooms I booked, as I was travelling with my nephew and parents in law, I booked 2family rooms, 2 double beds each, she told me she will give me just 1 with extra dunk bed because she don't see reason to give 5 people 2 different family rooms, even when I payed allready for 2. Have to say that rooms are dated and smelly. Beds are nothing but comfortable, showers drain dint work properly and curtains in showers don't do job, so after each shover you spend 5 minutes of drying floor. Restaurant have good menu, pricy, but not over expensive for hotel in this location. All waiting staff both bar and restaurant I found friendly, but I had allready really sour taste after fighting for 20 minutes at front desk for getting what I payed for. Cherry on the top, hotel advertising family rooms pictured as deluxe rooms, which they are really not. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone

After spending 18 months planning our dream wedding in Slovakia we ended up choosing the Hotel Atrium in Stary Smokovec, High Tatras and were mightly impressed. From day one Zuzana Malinova organised everything that we asked for and was excpetionally accommodating. Staff in the reception were polite and helpful and the restaurant staff top draw! The rooms were all clean and comfortable and our 45 English guests were made to feel extremely welcome. Food was excellent as was the were differentiated breakfast buffet. This is a highly recommended hotel and we cannot thank the staff enough for all the little things they did to make it such a fantastic weekend.

We stayed in this hotel during the conference. Well, everything was Ok, toilets close to reception are in bad conditions but it's not such a big problem... we haven't time for lunch, so we decided to go to the restaurant upstairs. We came to the restaurant, after couple of minutes I asked if we can order something, It took 10minutes while someone came with menu. She gave different menu to me and another one to my friend. Funny right? Soup hasn't any taste, then we took some meat... Meat of my friend was old and mine risotto overcooked and disgusting... Shame on us Slovaks. We have a beautiful mountains, a lot of things to show but we are so lazy to do something...

We went 2 couples to this hotel in February for ski and happy memories, but it wasn't so. We had difficulties in comunication with the staff because nobody knows english in this hotel, if you ask for something they give you something else. You have to be carefull with the money because the staff may scam you, specialy at the bar.
The people hired there are unfriendly, nobody smiles, nobody tries to help you.
Even the waiters are verry rude if they see you are foreign.
This hotel needs to upgrade its standards for foreign tourists.
The rooms are ok but not verry clean.
The location is good.
The food is good.
The spa is great.
This hotel its great only if you are slovak.

positives:
- wellness
- ski bus stop in from of the hotel
- hotel mascots are loved by children

negatives:
- tired and overworked personal
- Choice of menus dazzling me very far from rich selection. Manageme should attend some of competitors. Attention: a jug of water is paid !!!
- Small rooms - lack of storage space
- Heared every word from next room. Since we had rude neighbors (someone from the the hotel staff) which were swearing all night, we had ha to call the reception to calm them down. Since we were with child (6 years) it was bothering us.
- Overheated room with bad temperature control. Heater in the bathroom could not be controlled

There is a confusion about rating of this hotel as some worldwide portals rate it as 4* while hotel rates itself as 3* (they probably downrated themselves as some signs in the wellness have the 4th star scratched off...). Anyway even as a 3* it was a disappointment.

What we liked was:

- wellness (quite nice and large, 5 saunas, 2 tepidariums), long opening hours. Unfortunately no staff around for continous cleaning and maintenance (was not dirty though) and to enforce any rules (noise, entering saunas with swimsuits, etc.)

- massages. Even though on the more expensive end they were professional and in a nice environment

- bar. Open very long (daily till 1AM), nice environment, great waiters(!), nice selection of rums (even non typical brands for Slovakia). Unfortunately no mixed drinks which would suite this place.

What was neutral / acceptable:

- breakfast/dinner - not much choices, vegetarians would have suffered. However at least the choices were alternating daily, so you won't end up eating the same cereal every day. Quality of meals (mostly for dinners) varied from absolutely delicious to so-so. However, tables are not cleaned properly (if you arrive late for breakfast expect to sit at a dirty table...) and some things vere not restocked (well, if you arrive late, no more tea cups for you).

What was a disappontment:

- rooms. Weird layout (okay, given the circular layout of the hotel) however run down, there were corners that have not seen vacuum cleaner probably since the hotel was built. Double bed means two beds joined together with a huge gap in between. Not enough storage (okay for summer but can not imagine for winter). Dirty and rusty balconies overlooking a pile of rubbish (construction was undergoing during our stay). Absolutely NO SOUND insulation and be aware - all the rooms are connected with at least one adjacent room. The doors are locked but provide no noise insulation whatsoever. Also, forget about the wifi.

- bathrooms. Dirty, smelly, never cleaned properly (again, sides of the sink were never cleaned... Ever! In the bathtub there was some curly hair when we arrived), broken tiles on the floor. Nothing to step on after exiting shower (btw. this is required by law for a 3* hotel).

- and finally and best - total incompetence of reception. We forgot a little bathtub for our baby - the hotel (which caters for kids) does not have any. Okay. Then I tried to get a kettle for our room. They have one. ONE. For the entire hotel and it was of course already rented to someone else. If you want to book for a massage you have to do it through reception. At first, they told me there is nothing available for the day (I was told this twice!) After a couple more questions (can you please look if..., are you sure there is nothing ...), suddenly they decided to take a look into their system and I was booked in. And this was not about a language barrier. Of course when checking out no one even bothered to ask if everything was ok.
