the abnormal owner wanted to inform the police because I left the dog for an hour in the room to go with my son for a moment in the mountain ... the lady at the reception wanted us to tie the dog in the cold in front of the store ... the animals are obviously acceptable ... dust in the room, the radiator in the bathroom did not work, the payment was only cash - we have 21st century ... the bed was falling ... I do not recommend ...
We had a lovely time in this Pizzeria. If you like something really spicy go for primavera pizza and if something mild then Marcello will do;-) price is just average compared to restaurants around. We went for a casual dinner on New Year’s Eve and all other places around closed around seven just this one was open until 10pm. Staff was friendly but a bit slow and they even have a spot for children to play there with toys.
We stayed 4 nights in all . It’s clean good sized rooms beds comfy quiet rooms 2&11 have a balcony . Owners do not speak English do speak Russian German Slovakian and ? Polish . It was not a problem . Dog not a problem either ! Just no atmosphere and breakfast average only no fill ups when yogurts, cheese and apples gone. Plenty of coffee which was good. We left our rucksacks while we hiked very safe .
I read the previous reviews and so was not expecting too much ... The lady owner does not speak languages other than Slovakian . I get the impression she is from the communist era and hence not versed well in the hospitality industry . Her dog constantly barks and deters people from approaching the desk ! Breakfast is a buffet - when food or drink runs out at around 8:20 am ( breakfast is scheduled 7-9) she does not replace anything e.g. milk . There is horrible cordial , no juice Buffet is mainly pork based meats , there is bread and no toaster ... The rooms are basic - mattress is in the hard side Rooms are clean Bathrooms are basic - the sockets do not fit European 2 pin for electric toothbrushes The decor is old - old bed side lamps at wrong height for reading It is a good option for location - a basic hotel No communal areas for groups to sit in the evenings - there is. Restaurant attached ( not tried it as we have eaten out so far ...) As I did not book the hotel I can't compare the price ... Explore are apparently booking a different hotel next year She won't allow use of sauna unless at least 4 people and they each pay 10 euros and give 2 hr notice !! Best to walk to the wellness centre 10 minute walk away …
If there is someone who does not speak SLovak it is a problem. Lady at the reception does not speak English. Even though she might help with some tips for the trips. Reception is not open 24hrs but you have universal key so you can enter the pension anytime. Rooms were clean, with wooden furniture. Nothing fancy, just place to sleep. There is a restaurant (pizzeria) in the house and also a cafe bar in the basement. It looks like nice family pension but a little more creative and pro touristic (mostly for foreign tourists) management would help. Breakfast are decent, always the same. You will not stay hungy but do not expect many choices. Anyway staff can prepare breakfast sooner than is the usual time if asked. There is wifi available for free (just ask for the password at the reception). The best thing here is definitely pension´s location!…
We've stayed there as a family 2 + 1 child. I've made reservation by email (to avoid language misunderstandings) where I asked for room with breakfast for 2 adults with 11 years old child. I've received quotation for 50€ per night + 7€ for breakfast per adult and 4€ for the child which gave us 204€ in total. At the end of the stay they handed us the bill for the total sum 273€. When we disagreed, we were told in very unpolite way that we Polish always don't want to pay and many other made up stories how many people run the hotel without paying. We were threatened Very unpleasant person (seems to be the owner of the place) on the reception. Very poor breakfast, I advise against staying in this place. Despite a good location contact with the owner himself can spoil the whole trip .…
After not being able to hike to my planned chata (hut) due to bad weather, I had to find a place to stay in town. I booked online at this place because it was reasonably priced and looked nice. I arrived there 15 mins later to meet the most horrible personality I've ever bumped into running a hotel. Before she even acknowledged me, her dog came out barking then GROWLED at me when I stuck out my hand to sniff! I have pets, and I really thought he was going to bite me! Then I spent the next 5 minutes with this woman YELLING at me in I think Slovak (but sounded like Russian). I had the reservation on my phone because I knew she probably didn't have it yet. She wasn't interested. I didn't expect her to speak English, I never do, but she seemed to give me a list of her languages and then said "NO ENGLISH!" I never asked for English, and I came prepared with my booking for her. I really think she detests English speakers, that's how I felt! Then when she found out I was 1 person for one night, I got 4 fingers thrown at me implying a 4 night minimum. Hey, that's between you and the site. I didn't know that. It let me do it. So then she throws a key at me and wants my passport while she is still yelling at me. Hell no!! I'll spend my money elsewhere. I've never been treated so bad by a hotel in my life. And I wasn 't even in it yet!! Took the train down to Stary Smokovec and got a nice room for the same price at the Hotel Smokovec, WITHOUT the attitude. Horrible woman.... …
Nice large rooms, plenty of space for a family. Good bar and pizza restaurant on ground floor. Beds uncomfortable with poorly fitting sheets. Poor quality breakfast, stale bread and little other choice - very expensive, and don't go after 9am as a surly response is given to asking for replenishment of the supplies. Sauna and jacuzzi available, but was not working on any day of our visit.
Location is great, just 3 mins from train station. Rooms were spacious (can't say it about bathroom) and clean, overall acommodation was nice. But they charged additional 10 Euros for arrival after 7 pm!!! Didn't order breakfast as the price of 7 Eur seemed too high and you have supermarket very close. Wanted dinner one time after 8.30 pm but couldn't order what.we wanted because they did not have it.
