A group of eight of visited the Loona Manor Guesthouse on the night/following day of the 1/4/22 as part of a birding visit to the island. We found really nice twin room accommodation in the guesthouse, which is in a quiet, rural setting. The guesthouse interior has some great artwork and interesting features. Best of all is the food, which is off a very high standard, especially the lamb soup, which we all agreed, was exceptional ! All in all , we had an enjoyable time there.
The accommodation itself is within the main manor building (built in 18th century), which has a really nice ambience. The staff was excellent and really friendly. And the breakfast included everything needed for a long day in the wild (scrambled eggs, croissants, mueslis, juices, sandwiches etc). Loona manor is located smack in the middle of nature - within a short distance you'll find fields, thick forests, a shallow river and the sea. It is also relatively isolated from the rest of civilization, making it an ideal base for birdwatching or nature in general. We spent a week around Loona hunting for Silurian fossils, and during that time we saw hundreds of cranes, deers, boars, badgers, crayfish etc... In addition, the manor is located next to a very decent information point about the local national park, where the staff again were great. For geology fans, the manor even has a little exhibit about the fossils you can find in Saaremaa ;) All in all, we were really happy with the place and recommend it to anyone travelling in the area, it's probably the best choice in the west of Saaremaa. We will definitely return there one day :)…
Here in a birdwatching group to see Stellar’s Eider. Lovely accommodation, fantastic traditional food, breakfast, lunch and dinner all so-ooo good! Nothing too much trouble. Wonderful stay. Host helpful and friendly. Couldn’t be better
A very nice family run guesthouse. Spacious rooms, friendly service and good food. An excellent location if you're searching for Stellar's Eider in the winter. All was good, nothing was too much trouble.
We enjoyed our stay and especially talking with the delightful manager about the area and local customs. Our room was quiet and had a back entrance, with the bathroom off the hall. We were a bit confused getting there, as Loona mois was signposted but our booking paper had a different word than mois, plus nobody appeared to be there when we called in. All became clear later - very few staff in September. Dinner has a limited menu but was tasty, breakfast also good. In terms of negatives, the sheets were too small for the bed (double rather than queen) and the shampoo/soap dispenser for both the sink and the shower was inside the bathroom door so it was hard to reach from the shower without traipsing across the room. All in all, though, the manor is a lovely spot and we found our time there very enjoyable.…
This small manor appears to be a pretty decent accommodation in the middle of peaceful countryside. We just stopped for coffee, though. I can recommend their cakes but avoid the coffee, take tea instead.
Four of us stayed in the Naturehouse in the grounds of the Loona Manor in the first week of March. We opted for this arrangement as we wanted to come & go at odd hours (that's birder's for you!). Although it clearly had not been in use for several month's our accommodation was both warm & clean. There were 6 bunks on the ground floor & 4 beds upstairs, a shower room, two toilets & a small but adequate kitchen - perfect for us. We ate dinner once in the house which was very good. Overall an excellent place to stay on the far west cost of Saaremaa & very handy for the bird-rich bays close-by.
Coming to the Manor House the cranes were shouting in the fields and the sunset was beautiful. The house is in the middle of garden forest with lots of birds around. It is an excellent base to do hikes in National Park.
Very nice small manor on the west coast of Saaremaa. Very quiet surroundings with a great flora (orchids in particular). Host very friendly and point to good orchid-spots. Food very good and the rooms nice.
I have ever had! Cosy atmosphere and not the least - very friendly host (Katrin Truuman). Ready to serve and explain all details about food we had. Definitely will be here more with my family and for chill out time with my wife.
