Four-star boutique Hotel Justus is located in the very of the old town of Riga, literally a few steps away from the famous Dome cathedral, within the architectural area protected by UNESCO as a part of world heritage. The immaculate renovation of the historical building was completed by April 2009, and so today the authentic facade conceals 45 cosy rooms uniquely designed to embrace the charm of genuine brickwork combined with fascinating art objects, antique as well as contemporary. Personalised service matched with attractive pricing policy makes Hotel Justus of great interest for a wide range of guests. The hotel’s site possesses high historical value, since it was part of the plot of land selected by Bishop Albert as the location for his Baltic residence back in 1210. However, the medieval wooden housing was destroyed by the fire in the 17th century, so the architectural ensemble comprising Jauniela Street today dates back to the 18th century. The facade of the hotel itself underwent the last major alteration in 1874. The building hosted a tavern in the early 19th century that was later replaced by typography and lithography services, in the 20th century it was occupied by artisan workshops, pharmaceutical laboratories, and then a cinema gallery and offices. Charms of architecture and historical atmosphere made this place a favourite shooting spot of Soviet movie-makers. Now the hotel belongs to a small group of friends that has spotted an empty run-down building and revived it with artistic energy.Idea of making restaurant Aleks comes from the simple desire to enjoy Riga of the beginning of the previous century. Interior is made from the household items of those times, which gives the restaurant unique look.

Nice hotel in the middle of town, which has good character as it is built in an old cinematography building. They offer a tasty breakfast and a very nice shower. Only 1 negative was there was only 1 pillow each and no extra available when we asked the girl at reception. They looked after our bags after we checked out. They also have a bar but the old town is full of very good bars. Riga itself is an amazing place and I would go back without question.

Great little hotel close to everything you need, sights, restaurants, bars. Lovely decor, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, not much choice for breakfast but it was still very good, the room I was in on the 5 floor was a bit small but I did not really mind, it was cleaned everyday, definitely try to stay here again next time I visit.

We were rather disappointed by this hotel. The entrance is not very inspiring. The reception staff were fine. Our room though quite spacious, seemed a little tired, although that maybe due to the colour scheme. Our biggest issue with this hotel was the breakfast. The only fresh fruit served was melon, the only bread was basic sliced loaf, the tea and coffee came out of a machine. Overall we struggled to find anything very appetising amongst the limited choice, not what we expected from a four star hotel. The seating was quite uncomfortable in the dining room.

I requested a specific room and they gave it to us...the other person in our party...grrr! My spouse reminded me that although our room was quite stark in features, it had two big windows that provided the best view in probably the whole hotel and let in the cool breezes when opened. I did enjoy that aspect. Staff was very nice, everything clean, breakfast a bit somber and small in choices but one should waste preparing excess food for the size of hotel. I liked the towel warmer in our bathroom to dry hand laundry as we were on the road 3 weeks and I was disappointed how expensive it would be to send it out. Easy location, right value.

The hotel has style! It balances perfectly between giving the feeling of new while offering all the modern luxuries. The location is perfect for visiting the old town. The breakfast was very good. The only minus? You do hear some noise from the street.

We spent four nights in this impressive historical hotel which is full of old world character and right in the heart of the Old Town and consequently well situated for the sights and many good restaurants. The hotel reception staff were efficient and helpful at all times. The room was comfortable, clean very spacious and well maintained at all times.by the housekeeping staff who were attentive and gave good service at all times. The room had all mod cons inspite of its charming antiquity. Good tasty breakfast served by pleasant and helpful English speaking staff. Would highly recommend this hotel if you are in Riga.

Great place to stay in Riga’s Old Town, surrounded by historical landmarks and beautiful architecture. My standard room was spacious and warm , with cosy design and beautiful view. Fresh and clean bathroom is also bright and sizeable, fully equipped with all necessary amenities! Shower has good water pressure and fresh nice linens. I’ve spend 3 nights in perfect comfort, the staff is lovely and attentive and super helpful ! They also have little charming bar and proper coffee machine on the first floor. Perfect Hotel for visiting Riga. Great value! Thank you!

Stayed here for four nights and loved everything about this hotel. Ideally located for walking all round the beautiful old town of Riga. Fabulous, friendly yet professional staff. Went out of their way to help with any query. The hotel has so many quirky things to look at. Bedrooms very comfortable and warm. Twenty four hour access to free tea and coffee in the Dining room which was a real bonus! Lovely breakfast with good selection. Fantastic value for money. Would definitely stay here again!

Old and quirky hotel. Very comfortable and close to the restaurants in the old town. Staff extremely helpful and breakfast had very good choice. We travelled with friends and would return again, due to the current situation we were unable to visit churches and museums.

After lot's of research I booked this hotel for 4 of us, 2 couples, to stay for 3 nights. We wanted to be in the old town and this place was perfect for walking everywhere around the old and new areas. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were in awe of the place. A budget friendly hotel in the most perfect location, on a cobbled street. We couldn't have been happier. You could spend a day just looking around at all the different quirky things on display around the hotel. We loved our beautiful rooms, all seem to have a different look. All good. The free buffet style breakfast each morning was a great start to the day. A nice selection, cold meats, cheeses, cereal, fresh fruits, variety of yogurts, salads, hot foods to name but a few. Tea, coffee, juice, water all available. The only thing I couldn't find was breakfast tea but there was plenty of others to choose from. Everything was fresh and replenished all the time by the staff. The staff are a true credit to the hotel, they could not be more helpful. On our last day we passed some time on at Jurmala beach, recommended by the lovely Karina (forgive me if I have spelled this wrong) She gave us a map and drew a circle of which part of the beach to head to. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you, Karina. All the staff were fantastic and I would like to give a special mention to Ruslans and again, forgive me again if I have spelled your name wrong. He was so patient and kind with us, new to the country and city. What lovely helpful staff. We 100% will stay here on our next visit to Riga and tell all our friends too. What a fantastic place Latvia, and Riga is, a real hidden gem.... Just to add there is a 24 hour bar which the lads enjoyed a night cap each night whilst us girls when to bed. Thank you, Justus Hotel, we will be back. Best wishes from Pat, Terry, Lynne and Phil. Hope to see you all again x

Responded 6 Aug 2021
Dear Pat, Terry, Lynne and Phil, Thank you very much for your rewarding and informative comment following your stay at Hotel Justus that definitely will be extremely useful for future Guests of Hotel Justus. We aim to provide an excellent city break experience and we are delighted that we achieved that, thanks to our brilliant location that of course very central and unique for exploration of Old Town. Also, Ruslans and Karina were greeted accordingly. Since, our re-opening this July, we are serving breakfast directly to the room due to the Covid-19 related restrictions, and this is the only thing that has changed since your last trip to Riga. We really are looking forward to welcoming you again in future. With warm regards from Riga, Vladimirs Bessmertnovs Sales Manager
