Excellent staff and facilities in a first rate location, suffering through very trying times. I have not reviewed a property in a long long time. Not because I have not stayed in any of late, rather because they were all much the same. Everything was "ok" nothing above or below standards or expectations for the property. All very good, but very dull. Then the pandemic and all bets were off. Many properties closed temporarily and those that did not, suffered from governmental regulations and restrictions. And that brings me nicely around to the two weeks spent at the Pullman Riga Old Town. Riga is Latvia's capital city. The old town has UNESCO heritage listing and is a hidden gem that (hopefully) the ever creeping sameness of EU capitals will miss, given its small population and general remoteness. We absolutely loved it. The Pullman on our extended visit was suffering. It was understaffed, especially in housekeeping. All Covid restrictions related no doubt It is therefore, a credit to the general manager and their superb front of house staff, that it at no time became an issue for us. It did for others and once again we can only praise the staff for their handling of the situation. Evita in particular and Mario, for whom nothing was too much trouble. And it's good staff that make all the difference. Especially in a 5* property. The property is set in what were once stables, and consequently the horse theme is extensive throughout. Our room was at the front of the property facing the park. It was clean, quiet and save for poor WiFi was comfortable and enjoyable. Timber flooring is unusual, but as you would expect, slippers are provided. The room was bright and the windows operable. The ventilation excellent and instantly controllable. The bed was large and as comfortable as you would expect from European hotel beds. The ensuite was large and the floor heated (again controllable) the shower(over bath) powerful, including the monsoon head fixed where even I could enjoy it at 6'4" (2m+). Fresh linen daily and comfortable bathrobes (one size fits some) along with decent toiletries. The room had a flat screen smart TV and I am delighted to say that CNN was not available. A larger choice of stations would not go amiss however. A Nespresso machine with daily pods and teas various were provided along with bottled water. A handy fridge also. The property has a pool and spa, a good bar, breakfast is fine and a restaurant (which we didn't use so won't review) Food in Riga is very good and varied. For Americans, yes many many burger and pizza joints, the best of which are to be had at Golden Coffee and il Patio. Good salads and pasta there also. Fine dining is hit and miss. Local cuisine wise, Lido at the cheeper end and a if you want to eat local and spend a bit more, we found everywhere we went to be of a very high standard. By the way, the best croissant on this planet is to be had in the 1930's cafe nextdoor to the hotel. How good? We would skip breakfast and go there. That good. Riga is a town to walk around. Parks, the river, (great evening cruise to the Baltic) copious churches, opera, fantastic architecture and everything is well priced. The Pullman has a good car service, (Mercedes) but the local service is also very good. Two things to do unless you are having an all 5* trip, is download Bolt (taxi) and Bolt Food (delivery) So, will we visit Riga again? ABSOLUTELY Will we stay at this Pullman again? ABSOLUTELY…
The hotel looks like a boutique hotel, very well located in the earth of Old Town. Fast checked in by a very nice and let me say beautiful young lady, who showed also later her nice attitude and efficiency. The room was very tiny, but I didn't expect anything bigger. The wooden dark floor was nice and warm. Very quiet. The only problem was the poor number of tv channels available (I'm italian, no italian channels, but doesn't matter... but not even CNN or BBC!). Breakfast was adeguate and good. Very strange pool, indoor, long and thin (one person can barely swim its length...), nice gym. All in all, a pleasant stay, but benefits for Diamond guests should be more "perceivable ". I am still waiting for my ALL points.
Welcome to @pullmanriga !!! The hotel is located at the border which separates the new & the Old town of Riga! The facade of the building does not testify to the 5 star hotel that hides behind From the first moment we felt the feeling of affordable luxury provided by the hotel. Our room was great, clean, big and the bed, pillows excellent!! The staff was polite, smiling and willing to answer our questions.
We stayed in this beautiful hotel just for one night, and it was our wedding :) staff was very friendly and helpful. We really loved our room, it was perfectly designed and bed was very comfy. Breakfast - very delicious! I highly recommend:)
Easily one of the best and most interesting hotels I ever been! It is located in the center of the most visited area and is set in a former Baron Munchausen's horse stable. The decor is very interesting, modern, but not pompous. Extremely professional and friendly service. Only thing to complain was the breakfast, but we let this one go since we have had great time in Pullman hotel! The rooms are very comfortable, clean and soundproofed; you can sleep as long as you want without any disturbing noises.
