Typically soulless Eastern European hotel. Lacks all charm. Bedroom functional (just), beds not updated this century, evening meal absolutely shocking, brekafast very good cold selection + porridge, bar ran out of drinks, etc, etc. Hotel was clean'ish. Competition on has now moved on.
Rooms are quite spacey, cheaply furnished, but tidy and clean. During winter rooms can be a bit cold and sound proofing is poor, so be prepared. I use this hotel when attending dog shows in Tartu. When the hotel is full with guests with dogs, it can be noisy. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is sufficient. Location is good for walking dogs, and it only takes few minutes by car to the closest shopping center.
This was very nice family weekend. We staid in hotel overnight. Rooms was very good, unlessit was very very cold in rooms. Heating was very week and in one WC was not pssible even to go inside how cold it was. But it was good that there were two bathrooms - the other was OK. As there was some event, restaurant was closed in the evening, which also was not very conviniant. Also during breakfast - even we did not came very late - it was very narrow choice of food.
Room was pretty okay, arrived just before midnight as got a room without a booking. Nothing visually matched. Breakfast table had large selection of food but just not that good food. Night for two people with parking and breakfast was 50€ which is well worth for private bathroom and something to eat.
Unsuitable ramp to get into hotel, forced to leave chair and climb steps on my bottom. Internal slope of floor meant was unable to open door from lobby to corridor from chair. Insufficient room inside bedroom to be able to move around freely.
If you're visiting Tartu for leisure, then I'd recommend staying in a more central hotel, as Kantri is ~10 minutes' drive from the centre. However, I was staying here on business as the meeting was being held in the same place, so I didn't have the luxury of choice. The rooms were more like a hostel, the floors were noisy to walk on and the basic bed coverings comprised a duvet covered in something reminiscent of sleeping bag lining. The beds were like concrete so I took a duvet from one of the others just to get comfortable. The pillows were the least supportive I've every used. The water in the bathroom was so heavily contaminated with rust that you could smell the iron, making showers very unpleasant. Lucky, dispensers of drinking water were provided, although they weren't always full. The breakfast was a little basic and I found a mosquito floating in the milk but it was otherwise satisfactory. The lunch provided was much better. All this for less than €40 per night - you would probably do better with a hostel.…
